    2020 All-new Mustang-inspired Electric Performance "Utility" w/300 Mile Range !!!

Well, you knew it was coming, but this is a blockbuster announcement -- could be a real Tesla killer in the mix too

    ---

Ford’s all-new Mustang-inspired fully-electric performance utility arrives in 2020 with targeted range of 300 miles.

"My team and I are both proud of and energized by the company’s $11 billion investment to bring 16 fully electric vehicles within a global portfolio of 40 electrified vehicles through 2022. All of us here have unknowingly prepared for this our entire careers."

"Electric vehicle customers are buying into the future and our team is 100 percent focused on not only delivering vehicles they will love, but providing an entire electric vehicle ecosystem that works flawlessly. It’s exciting to know that my stint leading development of the next-generation Mustang actually comes full circle as we get ready to launch our electric Mustang-inspired utility. I, for one, can’t wait to have one — side-by-side — with my Shelby GT350R."

If it does a 10 second 1/4 mile, I would drive one...

Only problem is the 300 mile range. Over time as the batteries go bad than that range will get shorter. Not sure why companies are building this crap. America doesn't live life 300 miles at a time and I picture hotel rates going up around the 300 mile mark. I thin k this electric car thing is a big waste of money. Let people know what it takes to make those batteries and see if they think this is environmentally friendly. I also see electric rates going through the roof. What about the roads that these cars drive on? where will the money come from when they don't pay gas tax. Nothing good is going to come from electric cars. May as well let them drive themselves and park fire trucks so they will have something to run into.

Just carry a generator and 10 gallons of gas and you can recharge it anywhere

Industry rumors indicate this car will be a 2-row SUV built on new 2020 Mustang chassis (clearly Mustang-like tail end) ...reportedly Edge-sized and with proportions somewhat like a Porsche Macan. It was originally planned to call it Mach-1 but push-back caused Ford to recently leak that they will pick another name.

I honestly think there will be a market for that... a portable generator that will be able to be wired into the system for people once these are more in use. The "just in case" option.

    Re: 2020 All-new Mustang-inspired Electric Performance "Utility" w/300 Mile Range !!!

I'm wondering how long it will take to do photovoltaic paint/coating so when car isn't in garage )like when at work during the day) it can recharge ...even if just a little.

To full recharge a 300-mile battery takes a lot of power for a long time ...even the newest super-duper 20A 220v charging (most are only 15A 120v) will take about 20 hours to fully charge that hi-capacity battery pack. They're now talking about 30A 220v hypercharging in an attempt to get it down to 'overnight' for a 300mile battery pack ...and that's with active thermal battery pack conditioning.

This whole battery thing is a non-starter for me.
