How can they be publicly traded and just now be releasing 2007 results?

Pretty sad they could only pull 9.2% EBIT in the good years....their GP erosion is brutal, I would be looking for a job if that was the results in my divisions....oh wait, Amy is looking for a job....lmao

This paragraph is interesting:

“This is a great step toward fiscal transparency to our Shareholders,” explained Keith Belair, Shelby CFO. “During the early days of Sarbanes-Oxley, companies found that the cost to comply with the new rules was about ten times more than it was previously. Small market cap companies were required to spend more, as a percentage of free cash flow or net income as were the giants such as GM or IBM, on compliance. The Board of Director’s of Shelby made a strategic decision to spend profits on product and brand development, while maintaining the financial health of the company instead of filing and compliance costs.”

Is it fiscal transparancy when it takes three years to issue financial statements?

A close friend of mine has been involved with Sarbanes-Oxley (in his private consultancy business, as an independent S-O auditor, and as a corporate auditor) and he regularly tells me stories about such nonsensical rationalizations. However, rarely do you see such BS statements in print ...like we made a "strategic decision" ...yada yada.

More likely they pushed off S-O work because they could and their practices were abysmal as they struggled to manage a re-emerging business with sub-par skills Done halfheartedly (just to 'comply' on paper) Sarbanes-Oxley is largely useless. Done in earnest to uncover exposures and insulate the business from potential damage, it has real net merit.

Why do I strongly suspect that if they were audited today they'd abysmally fail?

...and just what is their business plan/model now??????????........nothing seems to be unique other than the ability to attach a man's name and/or signature to the product.....that only goes so far until the money paying market is quite saturated......hard to see how they can survive in this type of economy.....plus once CS is no longer available for involvement because of illness, etc..........there will be the ultimate drop in business.........can you just see it now??? ad......this is a product that we know CS would have approved of, so we went ahead and put his name on it...........doesn't sound quite right!!!!!!!!!! ....if this was TS, I would now put on my flame suit for about a zillion pages of personal insults, etc.....gosh......I love it here by comparison...............the ability to communicate honestly is priceless.
