NASCAR’s Nationwide Series will see new cars take to the track at Daytona for Friday’s Subway Jalapeno 250. There has been a lot of buzz around Ford’s decision to make its new stock car (http://www.allfordmustangs.com/articles/nascar-mustang-ford-brings-pony-to-the-race-1342.shtml#) a Mustang. On Tuesday, June 29, Ford North America Motorsports director Jamie Allison and Ralph Gilles, president and CEO of Dodge -- which is bringing a Challenger to the party -- took part in a NASCAR teleconference. Here’s what they had to say.

So does this mean there will be even more radical parts available soon based on the things they are learning on the track?

That would be nice, but the cars are essentially the same except for some safety changes and 'stang paint as I understand it ...and the more widespread use of the FR9 as the second half of the season gets going.

This was the realease by Ford Media today (http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=32909)which included an interview with Carl Edwards on his #60 Coparts Mustang. The safety items seems to be the most important changes to the drivers.

Looks like there will be a bunch of them debuting at Daytona this weekend -- this one of Edwards' #60 (hi-res image courtesy Ford Motor Comapny):

Nothing from the NASCAR series relates to our cars at all. They are ground up purpose built race cars that use old technology (carbs, Ford 9" rears, dry sump oil systems and 4 speed transmissions....The brakes are state of the art though.:spend:
