Yep, I'm watching that race today and for 40 minutes during the last [rain] break the talking heads did not mention Biffle (to restart in #2 slot) or Edwards (restart in #3). For 40 minutes it's all about how Gordon will make it back to the front and blah, blah, blah. They talked about a half dozen drivers and for 40 minutes did not even mention the Ford in #2 and #3 slots on the restart. And I'm saying to Jan: these guys ought to retire from announcing because they're oblivious to Biffle running the FR9 and only taking two tires so he can come out of the pits up-front and break away on the restart and never look back. Voila!

So Ford just released the post-race interviews and what does Biffle say when asked how did he win since he was having so much trouble earlier in the race?

GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 3M Ford Fusion – VICTORY LANE INTERVIEW – YOU WEREN’T HAPPY WITH YOUR CAR EARLY. HOW WERE YOU ABLE TO WIN? “Greg Erwin and those guys just never gave up. This 3M Ford Fusion, it was mostly engine. This engine ran so good. I abused the crap out of it all day and this one is for Jack. We know he’s watching and we’re thinking about him. ..."

And the 'cat-in-the-hat' comments from the hospital:

JACK ROUSH STATEMENT: “It’s a proud day for Ford, Greg Biffle, Greg Erwin, 3M, the Pit Bulls, and all of the wonderful sponsors who have stood by us these last few months. I’m comforted in having Robbie Reiser at the helm in my absence and know that things are in good hands, but this couldn’t have happened without the support of Ford and all of their technical assistance they provide, and, of course Doug Yates and his collaboration with Ford on the new FR9 engine can’t be overstated. They’ve done a wonderful job and this is just the beginning of the rewards that have resulted from all of their hard work.”

Oh, yeah! In the last 18 laps he put everyone 56 seconds down and for the last 5 just hung on -- that's like 4 sec/lap ...and pulling away from the Chevy's and Toyos on 4 new tires Oh, yeah...

If they can nail more of the 'set-ups' for the rest of this season -- so they can use the FR9 power -- it could get interesting. This is the first on-track confirmation I've seen that the FR9 really is a notch up.

Mose Nowland rules! ...55 years working for Ford doing what he loves -- from the FEs in the 60s to the new FR9 ...only goes to prove: don't mess with an old timer who know his stuff! Right, Carnut?!! -lol.

Now would be a good time for Roush guys to make a strong push and possibly wrestle the cup away from the Chevys. I've been to Pocono twice and both times Gordon won :doh2:. Nice post Dan! :wtg:

In the previous race at Indy, Biffle really looked like he had the horsepower. He seemed to pull on everyone down the straightaways. The timing for the Ford teams to come to life close to the Chase may really shake things up.

Go Biff !!

Pocono is such a big track it is the perfect place for the car with the most HP to shine. Now they just have to get the "suspension" act together.

+1 ...they've been beind the curve on set-ups it seems.

I found it intersting that Biffle was actually working a 2-tire strategy [as possible] for the whole Pocono race ...so he knew exactly how it would drive on 2 tires at the end ...from the restart. Will be interesting to see how the FR9 fares at Watkins Glen next weekend -- also a big track ...but totally different road course set-up.

Yes it will be interesting, we might see a big surprise (at least to the TV commentators). I think Carl Edwards has a taste after his 3rd place finish and Biffle's win will. I think the fire of desire has been rekindled. While he may not be a favorite in this race, he will definitely be in contention if his car is half decent.

I saw qualifying and the start and last few laps. He must have had some problems along the way. Edwards qualifying was encouraging but dunno what happened later on...

Ford Media Release on today's race at the Glen. (http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=33089)

Almandinger 4th

Edwards (pole) ran fairly conservative to a solid 5th.

Biffle not happy with dufus who squeeze-passed in turn-1 and took him out -- finished 24th.

By the time I got back the race was over -- oh, well. ;-)

Sometimes ...but I find it hard to watch the whole unless it's a good one -- sort of like baseball, football, and all those 'foreign' sports

I watched the whole thing. Boris Said eventually tangled with the wrong dude after he took out the Biff (thank you Tony). Carl's car was tight the whole race. Almindinger was a real surprise. Oh well, there is always Michigan.

And yeah, I still watch this. Makes me kind of dizzy, like fermented fruit.

...the chase for the chase continues...
