Auto Week has just posted the future lineup of its vehicles. Trying to separate the Ford and Lincoln brand, they are adding a couple of extra features to the Lincolns and some new sheet metal. Auto Week goes into such detail like the engines that will be used in each model. It seems like the Mustang 5.0 is going to be expanded into more of the truck and SUV lineup.

Here is the article from Auto Week:

Mustang: Ford gave the 2011 Mustang new powertrains. The company re-engineered two engines for the car, a 3.7-liter V6 and a 5.0-liter V8. Ford also is offering a V6 performance package for the 2011 model year.
For the 2014 or 2015 model year, the car will be restyled and re-engineered. Mustang turns 50 years old in 2014, so it would make sense for a bold design statement at that time.

That should be interesting..

...nice write-up ...no surprises.

I'm sure they meant 6.7 diesel, not 6.2 as stated.

Apparently the 5.0 never gets EcoBoost. I think it will ...in some form.

...and the Ranger is dead (nonsense -- Ford has had to expand production over plan several times since 2007), tho I agree basing it on the Asian T6 makes a lot of sense sinc ethe current ranger is woefully behind the tech curve. I've read Ford makes little/no money on Ranger (net loss on cheapo units and modest margins on the stretch/V6/optioned ones; net near zilch), but I can't see Ford abandoning that segment :nonono:

I didn't understand the comment on 25% import tax on pick-ups ...it would be Ford bringing it in -- they're an American company. Finish the build in the US? Can't we stick blue ovals on 'em ...along the way ...as they steam thru the territorial waters of American Samoa? () ...and call it finished there?! :haha: ...or, a novel idea, assemble (or make) it here? The current Ranger is like the CrownVic of small pick-ups ...bulletproof and super reliable but oh so dated ...has to go ...what to do, what to do :doh2:

Great article!

Can you imagine the 5.0 in a barebones F150? :chirp: LOL

One thing in the article that stood out was "The front-drive 2011 Explorer is built on the same unibody platform as the Taurus sedan and Flex crossover."

FORD get a massive :redcard: for building a PRETEND SUV on a car chassis.

Look at it this way... you now have an ultra-collectable FoMoCo product.

I think they mean same chassis architecture, not same actual chassis. Chasses are areguably take huge development expense so flexible architectures that can be retargeted across multiple vehicle designs is critical objective.

I do agree that Ford is missing a competant compact 4x4 with genuine 4x4 chops, but doubt it presents a competitive ROI opp in that segment right now vs other segments.

Would love to see a serious Bronco -- like concept shown a few years ago!! ;-)

lol - for sure ...mine's a '92 Joe, so only 7 more years 'till it's 25/'antique' ...and I'll most likely still have it.

It could be worth $1000 by then

VW are the masters of this, building 14 cars on one Chassis and reaping the profit from the efficiencies.

Separate and distinct of FORDS ambiguity in regards to this new Explorer's Chassis, the WRONG wheels are turning.

TRUCKS are not Front Wheel Drive. The :redcard: is still valid.

Can you get "collector car" plates after it turns 25?

agreed ...they've made it into a non-truck ...but that's where the market it now -- unfortunately. They even lowered it 1.5" :doh2: ...but I think it will sell well.

I disagree, I think it will sell poorly, not only do they (Ford) have a crowded market due to the other manufactures position in this marketplace of PRETEND trucks, FORD have also created more competition for themselves too, as this new Explorer will complete directly against their own FLEX and the Edge.

I don't think it will be another PINTO :shades: but I expect it will not meet FORD's ROI projections. JMO

The is going to be downsized.

Edge: Ford reskins the Edge for the 2011 model year to make it bolder and more flowing. Engine enhancements are expected to boost fuel economy. Ford will offer three engines: an EcoBoost 2.0-liter four-cylinder, a 3.5-liter standard V6 and a 3.7-liter V6.

An Edge redesign is due in the 2014 model year. The vehicle will be smaller and sit on Ford's global mid-sized platform.
