So will my mrt hood struts work with an aftermarket fiberglass hood? I am getting the cervinis new ram air type iv hood.. Anyone know?

I'm not familiar with those struts, but if they bolt to the hood, better have the steel inserts in the hood at the proper placement for the struts to connect to. If not, then steel rivets will have to work. I used them on the redlines I had on the pro glass hood, worked with no problem.

+1 on the inserts. Less issues in the long run.

Mrt struts are like the steeds struts etc... They have a steel bracket that bolts to the hood then has a steel ball that the shock connects to....according to cervinis rep all hardware comes off of stock hood and mounts in place.. With that in addition to the steel brackets where else would I put a piece of steel?
Thx for tips and advice

Not steel brackets, threaded steel (or aluminum) bushings in the holes. Hopefully, the Cervinis hood already has these if it is a true bolt on hood.

I have the MRT struts & they use the OEM hood mounting points & screws. The screws thread into either the sheetmetal or a threaded bushing on the OEM hoods.

I would think that the Cervinis hoods will have a threaded bushing of some sorts since threading directly into fiberglass (or graphite or kevlar) is a real bad idea structurally.

Thx bro... They are already installed I just have to make sure they can hold up the fiberglass hood..I assume they will otherwise cervinis sells there own in case I had to change if they don't work.. I believe they will..the hood comes with all hardware to bolt right up to the car etc so we will see in a couple weeks...

if their similar to these, then they utilize your stock hinges. cervini would have threaded inserts in the FG to utilize the stock hinges, and these brackets simply bolt in place with the hinges

Yup that's the ones... They are extremely easy to install I just was not sure if they were strong enough to hold up a fiberglass hood....I assumed cervinis had the correct inserts since they claim to bolt directly to stock hinges I was just curious on fg hood weight vs stock etc. :tiphat2:

You'll find out pretty quick if they'll support the hood or not.

I used these and they are great. No drilling or anything.
