What are the fender bolts made of on our GT500s?
I lost a couple fender bolts. (don't ask) and need to replace them.
The dealer is no help so I found them on line but I don't know the difference between:
Zinc & Yellow Dichromate, Phosphate, Black Phosphate, Dichromate WTF???
Anyone know which ones to use?

Thanks

I have no idea, but I would guess that the black ones are the best. Makes sense to me.

Post a picture of where they are located. I have some, 3, somewhere. They were in the engine bay along the top edge of the fender.

The 2 closest to the windshield on the top edge of the fenders.

Same ones I bought.

I'll see if I can find them this weekend & send them to you. They are unpainted, but I'm not sure if they're uncoated.

A lot of times dealership body shops keep cabinets of factory type bolts and nuts in a storage room in their shop.

In the future it wouldn't be a bad idea to ask them.

Guys, Lets get back on topic!
Let me clarify my first post.
I can fine the bolts locally, My question is:
Does it matter what coating is on them?
I've found yellow, black and gray. This isn't a painted finish its a coating.
All I want to know is what type of coating if any is recommended for our fender bolts?

Those cotings could be anything?

If you can find out, I would go w/ a zinc coated bolt that has been primered.

Perhaps that is what the gray bolt is.

And don't use that tone of voice w/ me.

You want to stay away form the Black oxide coated ones ... they will rust over time when they get wet ... and they will get wet when you wash your car.

Alan,

The bolts I have are coated gray, PN W707491 S437M, at least that's what is on the label.

I'll drop them in the mail Monday.

I purchase a lot of OEM fasteners from Silver State Ford Parts.com. Sometimes I will have the part number, but other times I email them with make/model and description and they help me arrive at the correct part number, sometimes by sending me an illustrated parts list. Their prices are much lower than dealer prices, but you have to consider shipping charges. I have never ordered OEM parts from Tousley, but their prices are even lower than Silver State's. Just wanted to share some options.

+1 on the black oxide. The ones I have are coated gray.

The ones I have have been in a box in my garage for about 3 years. Plenty of humidity here in MD, but the bolts look brand new.
