This seller seems real cool. He is throwing in all new rotors, Porterfield pads, strait exhaust and quieter exhaust and all of the documentation from Ford to Rousch to Bondurant as well as everything he has done. The price seems too good to pass up. I bid $15k a few months ago and it never met the reserve. I had private discussions with him following an unsuccessful auction. I dragged my feet so long that he reposted it and I happened upon it 7 hours before the auctions end.

Sorry, no pics yet. We've been busy as hell at work. The day it arrived I didn't even see it until after lunch, 6 hours after it arrived. I've been squeezing in some parking lot time. I ordered the passenger seat and 5 point restraint. Everything else appears ready to go. I plan on getting to the shop Sunday for a once over. I'll get some pics then. As far as the Fire Bottle, I called the company. They said that bottle has been outlawed since 2001. As long is it hadn't discharged it would have been ok. The new bottle is $450. I considered not getting it, but I thought about being on fire at the track and wishing I hadn't been such a cheapskate. It will be here by Wednesday. When I roll this thing off the trailer at VIR, I'm sure everyone will expect a lot from the driver of such a capable car. I'm sure to dissapoint them somewhat...:doh2:

What is interesting is the Roush engineered and fabricated torque arm, along with the fact that while the previous owner upgraded to a plethora of MM goodies, he chose to stick with the tubular Roush unit as opposed to one of Maximum's arms.
Roush never sold the torque arm to the public, so finding one (not bolted to a Bondurant car) is extremely rare.

About seven or eight years ago I used to get updates from Bondurant on the cars they were selling. I also moderate on a site frequented by some Roush and FRPP engineers. Here's one of a few old threads on the subject...
http://corner-carvers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7173&highlight=roush+torque+arm
The unique Roush torque arm piqued my interest at the time. Here's a few shots of the arm on a Bondurant car along with Roush's panhard bar...

Matt King is a regular at CC.com as well and put the following story together for Car Craft regarding the Bondurant cars as well...
http://www.carcraft.com/thehistoryof/71858_bondurant_school_mustang/index.html
I enjoy the history, as the Fox body "Quadra-bind" rear suspension and its inherent snap-oversteer characteristics weren't addressed by Ford until these cars came along (lets call it unofficial involvement). Apparently Ford toyed with the idea of a panhard bar and torque arm for the '93R, but that was quickly brushed under the carpet. S197 chassis owners have "development" vehicles like these to thank for things like the third link and panhard bar as well. Were it not for Bondurant I don't think the Mustang would be as good as it is today...

Very interesting stuff TOB.
I have basically the same car as John, although heavier since I haven't gutted it yet.
I have about 30 more HP.
I also have the Maximum Motorsports Torque arm instead of the Roush unit.
It is 10 times more beef and has made a total change to the handling.
I almost wish my GT500 had a torque arm, because the handling is just incredible.
John will totally fall in love w/ the handling this set up has.
We're gonna have a blast at VIR in October and November! :wtg:

Nice, TG!!
---
The torque-arm mounting location on the MM and Griggs look similar (directly under the DS) but that Roush setup looks offset to the driver's side. Maybe it was just how it appeared in the pic, so I'm wondering if I'm seeing that right and if Roush did that for a specific purpose -- possibly to allow more clearance/swing for the DS or to get a slightly higher pivot location to be a bit clsoer to the vehicle cernter of mass, or... ???

Getting ready to go. Bled the brakes and checked all the pads and rotors. Installed the new Fire Bottle. Checked the oil level- Just changed by previous owner with the engine rebuild. Cleaned exterior with Carnuba wax cleaner- amazing stuff. Just wipe on and wipe off- removes rubber and rubbish. Installed my new Corbeau passenger seat. Still waiting for my 5 point Simpson belts. Checked all signal lights, wiper blades and belt. I put a trailer brake control on my Tundra and I'll do a "dry run" this week to make sure things are right for trailering. On the dry run, I'll take the car to my mechanic friend for a look see underneath on the lift. Hopefully all will be good.

I thought about this earlier if the guy knew something was up w/ the fuel cell.
It could have just started happening. The guy could have not suspected this at all.
The way the sponge material in the tank is set up it was just a matter of time til it made it's way to the filter.
The material is said to last 5 years and it lasted 9.5 years. :surprised:

Probably because it was just starting to happen.

Racing sanctions require the fuel cells to be changed at specified X number of years obviously because of deterioration issues and loss of integrity .....guess the TBird is due for a new fuel cell by now too....or at least new foam baffling which I already changed once since new but that was about 5 yrs ago.....:banghead:

Fuel Safe says you only get 5 years out of the foam and bladder. I sent it off Monday for the install in Seattle. In the mean time: new Cobra calipers and rear stainless braided brake lines. I guess I'll just tidy things up until next year. The tank overhaul is going to take a minimum of 3-4 weeks which screws me out of next weeks Track Daze event...:doh2:

Pieces of the foam blocks had made their way to the basket that housed the fuel pump. It was enough to block the screen most of the time. I think it was sloshing around enough to work okay at times but not at others.
When pulled out, the fuel filter sock was covered w/ foam.

Today, I was in to getting the car ready for VIR. The new fuel cell is installed with new fuel pumps, new swaybar bushings (The old ones partially melted when the exhaust was on them. The exhaust has been deflected down now), welded exhaust flanges, new fuel filter, new driver side seatbelts (old ones expired in 2010), New front calipers and pads, new rear braided brake lines. It if isn't one thing it's another...
Oh, I almost forgot. TG came over today to assist me with setting the car up on my trailer for transport. I came across a great deal on a almost new aluminum 18' low ride car trailer.
