View Full Version : 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Carbon Fiber
For the truly hard-core Corvette (http://www.autoblog.com/model/corvette) fanatic who likes to spend weekends thrashing his or her car at the track, there is only one Corvette worthy of consideration: the Z06. However, thanks to the ZR1 (http://www.autoblog.com/model/zr1), the lightweight, normally aspirated 7.0-liter coupe is no longer the absolute quickest Vette, but it is felt to have the most responsive handling. What it doesn't have is the uber-cool carbon-ceramic brakes, carbon-fiber body panels and magnetic ride active damping system of its supercharged sibling. That can now be changed to past tense with the birth of the Z06 Carbon edition announced today by General Motors.

:wow2: I have to hand it to the Corvette team at GM they truly do have a world class performance car that keeps evolving in the right direction. The thing that interest's me is the new gen II Goodyear F1 supercar tires. I wonder if they will be offering these to fit the GT500 anytime in the near future?

I suspect the ZR-1's supercharger will eventually heat soak on the track, making the ZO6 the right choice for lap after lap racing. Besides, the extra 30 k or so is hardly worth the few tenths in the quarter for the average Corvette owner.

I agree 100% I'd much rather have a NA car for the track.
