I've been watching that mega-thread over on SVTP about the MGW shifter and I have to admit to being tempted. The stock shifter on the 2010/2011 is OK, but I think I'd like something a little more precise and this shifter has been getting some good reviews on several forums. It really looks to be a nicely made piece.

What do you think, has anyone else here been looking at these?
Helped a buddy install a "skip shift" unit and a new LSR short throw shifter (http://www.lsrperformance.com/drivetrain/short-throw-shifter-chevy-camaro.html) on his 2010 Camaro SS this morning. Took about an hour, and he seemed really pleased with the result during the subsequent test drive.
Wasn't quite as extensive a job as the MGW installation would be, but installing it went a long ways towards convincing me that we could easily do the MGW shifter install on the Mustang.

Since I'm getting the flywheel/clutch TSB done, I'll be having them replace the stock shifter with a better one.
Until the MGW came out I was gonna do the FRPP "KR" shifter - but the MGW looks very nice. I'm torn as I get a pretty good deal on the Ford Racing one. :spend:

I had the FRPP KR shifter on my 09. It was a good shifter with a short throw and a very positive feel. I don't think you would be displeased with it as it is better than the stock shifter.
I know that BJ thinks it is just "OK", and that the Steeda tri-ax is much better. I've never had a chance to play with the Steeda shifter, but I think that BJ generally knows what he is talking about.
If I buy any shifter right now, it will be the MGW. I've bought into the hype. :doh2:

Yeah, I've driven cars with both the KR and the Steeda. The Steeda was nice, but I'm not a big fan of the clunky/notchy almost ratchet like shifting. I just don't know if the MGW will be *that* much better than the KR.
Decisions decisons... :banghead:
Very nice and MGW products are 1st class, I have the KR FRPP short throw and it is an improvement over stock but by know means state of the art.
I would like to try out the action on this MGW.
Who makes the Shelby Parts shifter in their catalog for them?
Nice to see your buddy buy a :canada: car too (even though it's a MARO), good for our economy.

Your shift handle won't work with the MGW but it matches pretty sweet with the KR Short throw linkage... Night and day compared to the stock linkage...

Your shift handle won't work with the MGW ...
:sad2:
Well that throws a monkey wrench into the decision. :doh2:

Joe, what shift handle do you have? I thought the MGW shifter would work with the shock shift handle(s)? This might be a big monkey wrench for me as well...
I'll have to check on this. I don't like the jam nuts you have to use with their knobs.

OneCrazyDog made a special handle for me - CNC'd from solid billet. It fits on the stock shifter (and KR shifter according to OCD).
Only a few are around - you need to be a friend of the Dog. :shades:
Grabber did a thread on the one he got - http://stangsunited.com/showthread.php?1390-My-new-Factory-2010-2011-Shifter-Ball-in-my-2007

Yeah, I remember seeing that now. Very nice, but as OCD said, it won't work with the MGW shifter.
AFAIK, the MGW shifter works with the stock 07-09 and 10/11 shift knobs. I will ask sometime next week though as I plan on keeping the stock shift knob.

I don't know for sure... If the frpp KR shift handle will fit the MGW, so will yours Joe...

No, their shaft is much different than the stock/KR shaft.
