Just wanted to let everyone know that at times over the weekend the site will be down for maintenance:yikes:. Don't panic! :cop3: It's all scheduled downtime and we are just updating software etc.
We are going to attempt to make this as painless :crutch:as possible because it has been brought to the staffs attention :gathering:that if the site is down too long, pandemonium :bunny:and looting:gun: may occur.

Art,
What size screen is that and what is the resolution? It looks like your resolution maybe set a bit low.
Birdman
09-22-2010, 10:26 PM
Art I think you need to change (reduce) the screen resolution just a bit or you may even want to check your "zoom" setting and reduce that one notch instead.
Joe G
09-22-2010, 10:27 PM
Yeah. If a pic is too big, mine automatically sizes it down to fit. Then, if I want to see the full pic, I can click the bar above the pic to see it full size.
68fastback
09-22-2010, 10:57 PM
It looks like the zoom is set too high or the native display resolution is too low to show the whole image. The browser should adjust for that but possibly there's someting else (some setting) that's preventing that. Dunno.

Getting some very different formatting if I right-click on the current open topic (not the thread) and, for example, open it in a new tab or page, for example click "Site Suggestions" (http://stangsunited.com/forumdisplay.php?74-Site-Suggestions)at the top of the page. It looks like it's defaulting to an alternative formatting option of some kind?

I looked into the formatting issues (styles are broken) and I have a temporary workaround for now.
Switch to the "New Default Style" in the drop down chooser at the bottom left of every page.
Once you change to the new style all teh formatting and styling will display correctly.
I will work on ading all the style changes we have done over the past to get it looking like we are all used to.
Please keep posting up any other new issues so we can work on getting them resolved.

Ah, the "What's New" is baked-in the VB s/w. Well, since the "New Posts" pull-down (just below it) is also very visible and now shows essentially three 'new-post' choices maybe we have it covered ok now.
I think we can live with that if others are ok with it.

Ok, I figured out how to get the Styles choice to appear at the bottom again!!
I went into my profile and the choices do show there, so I set it to the default style and then checked a thread and the choices are now back at the bottom of the page -- amazing! Dunno why, but there they are!
So then I changed it (at the bottom of the page) to SU Red and it changed it.
Then went into my profile to see if it also changed it there (didn't), so I changed my profile to SU red also and the choice is still available at the bottom of all thread pages.
Not sure why above 'fixed' it, but it did -lol.

:spitcopy: ...not an antique  and at latest level w/all maint. applied ...works great most everwhere else  It's just so full-function :giggle: that it costs more to fully support :shades: ...I think many sites just don't bother for that reason.
I use Edge when I need to type normal, insert links or vids or upload pics  but, like others have noticed, then you have to log in every time ...maybe letting MS save PW (which I will never do) would fix that but checking "remember me" box doesn't work.

Okay, tried all of that -- but ng.
In IE I just have a shortcut saved on the desktop and "remember me" works.
Edge doesn't seem to support creating a right-click short -- seems you have to add it to a iist ...which I did and that doesn't work either even after re-clearing all cache ad cookies. Haven't tried using 'favorites' -- I like keeping old-school links -lol
What's interesting is that, with IE, whether or not I clear cookies and/or the whole cache (which I do most every day) it still works without ever having to log in, except literally once or twice/year after a major MS Win update. For a while about 2 years ago after running a manual Norton scan I'd have to re-log in (auto scan didn't affect it), but I contacted Norton and they fixed that after a couple of months and that prob never returned -- but Edge always required re-logging in every time, from day-1.
Not a big deal ...only takes 5 seconds to log-in ...how spoiled we get! lol.

Funny that since the switch to the new server last week the new post count is blank at first and then works only after I've viewed the posts, leave, and come back in -- then the # is correct for what was already viewed :rofl3:
MS' new bowser based on Chrome's open source kernel will be out next year  It will support, but not include, Chrome extensions for Google but will support and include all MS extensions -- great since I don't want Google's extensions.
According to tester leaks, It will be as fast as Chrome, faster and more full-function than Edge and considerably faster than IE but without IE's compatibility baggage, and will certainly be fully supported via MS update, etc. So, we shall see.

Thanks for the understanding on the verification thing. I think I’ll be able to get rid of it. It really is used to slow down boys attempting to spam the site as it even takes them a few extra seconds. So when you have 30k all spamming at the same time, a few seconds helps a bunch. I’ve been watching and seems guests are now under control. Don’t have 15-30k of them anymore. I’ll probably give it another day and then change it back. If it gets out of control, I can enable it really fast now.

Just updated the ssl cert. It's acting weird and I think its because of the cloudflare DNS change etc that I had to do because of the bots. It shows that it's installed for 6 months. Cloudflare also shows that we have a free ssl cert through them. I'll look into it all more soon.
Also, I turned off the added security measure through cloudflare. The bots jumped up to just over 300 and have held steady. If it goes wacky again and needs to be turned back on, just let me know. I can do that from my phone.
