Guys, help me pick out an exhaust system from Magnaflow.

Here is the list - http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopdisplayproducts_cars.asp?make=FORD&model=MUSTANG&year=2009

I'd like to keep it legal but doubt it lol. I want it loud and mean sounding like a tru muscle car should sound.

$ is no object here.

Thanks

I think having the high flow cats would help it more with passing smogg but then again by the time I need a smogg, 4 more years to go, I probably will have a snow balls chance in hell passing it lol

May have to just go all out and get off road x catless

I dont have any extra $ before SEMA so I have to get by with what I can.
Perhaps adding ARH to the Magnaflow system will sound

Are cutouts illegal?

Someone else I know had cutouts and man they were loud. it may be one more reason for cops to hassle you if they hear you and they will guaranteed. I would stay with the hi flo cats to save the hassle of putting them on when its time for a smog. Mod motors dont have the hot rod sound there is just something missing.
Good luck with you're choice Mario likes Magnaflow So does Marco for that matter. They both drive Chevys like SA.:redcard3:

Im not too worried about smog. I wouldnt be running in the streets with the cutouts on as that would surely get me a big ticket. Just thinking more of like car shows and the drag strip etc. The rest of the time they would be turned off so the exhaust goes via the muffs

I had magnaflow ovals and they were pretty quiet, but I see you're looking at round ones, should be louder.

Ok need to submit today.

I see that there are axel back and cat back systems. Which is better and will #16433 (http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopexd.asp?zone=main&id=3709) work with either?

Should I go 2.5" or 3"?

Thanks

Cat back. Go for 3". Bigger is better right??

But whats the technical difference between catbacks and axelbacks?

I could be wrong, but axle backs are fancy way of saying mufflers......cat back replaces the entire pipe from the x back (the up and over the axle pipes).

CD, do you know where you're car will be shown ..what booth number or vendor ...just curious ...you may have mentioned it but I didn't recall.

If you visit Magnaflow, they usually set up outside -- in the parking lot across the access road to LVCC ...real nice folks every time I've visited. Wish I could be there this year too! I hope you get some time to spend in the Performance area ...amazing show. SEMA's sister org for the wheel/tire industry, APEX, uses a whole different complex nearby ...your tags will get you into both, but the main SEMA show at LV Convention Center is *the* place to explore if you have some time. GM has separate area in the Performance arena and Chrysler usually does a separate vintage muscle-car show in the connecting link to the next building. Ford also typically does a vintage/racing area outside ...all original stuff: '60s Kalitta FC/rails, Parnelli's BOSS, the theme varies show-to-show but always interesting and well worth seeking out if you have time. You're gonna have a ball! ;-)

Thanks! No, I am not in a booth but still happy to be going as a Feature Vehicle. Sunday we arrive for parking and thats when they direct us to where they want us to park.
Hopefully not out in the elements but at least under some kind of cover from the sun and weather.

I have so much to do and so little time.

Say I heard that the 3" system limits the clearance of the driveshaft when one is lowered. Is this true? Im planning on getting even lower either this week or in 3 weeks from now after SEMA

Just about every display area outside is covered since teh sun is brutal there. Feature Vehicle is an awesome honor!!

I would think it's mroe a problem if car is jacked from body (suspension hung), not how low the suspension is (dunno). Often depends where the X is located ...the further-back the more likely to have clearance issues with a one-piece DS when jacked.

Ok I think I have one more question left. Since I ordered the 3" system, doesnt the stock exhaust manifolds have a 2 1/2" or 2 1/4" so will the kit come with an enlarger coupler?

Cool, glad to hear that it will be good odds to have some kind of coverage overhead! :thumb:

Usually the 3" is used with LTs and 3" catted-X, so dunno what they'll send. Maybe someone else has more insight on this.
Stock pre-'10s are 2.5; new ones 2.75, so you should have 2.5" to mate-up to.

sounds like it just won't work for you. You should just send it to me and I'll mate it up with the LT I plan on getting in the spring.
