Awesome! That's got to be good for a tenth or two once all worked-out?
Did a little research ...there's a Fred Brown who holds a key patent* on a variable-stall control (VSC) torque converter and lives on L.I. not far from far from FB ...related to Mike Brown at FB?
*United States Patent 6564546
[edit:] bingo! that's it ...patent 6564546 has actually been assigned to FB Transmissions of Bay Shore, NY (http://www.freepatentsonline.com/6564546.html)

Nice launch, I like the way your slicks wrinkle up and launch the car like a rubber band.

8.84 and 8.83 :wow2: ...I like how you're launching ...very slight power-brake and then quick roll-in on the throttle ...is that it? Hooking awesome! ...and that 8.83 was ever with a fishtail out of the grove a little ...making some serious power, Raymond ...really nice runs!

Dan you are very observant we do much better off foot brake than using transbrake. The last run head gasget started leaking before the end.

Interesting ...I've always believed that should work better with an automatic if for no other reason than it pre-loads the *whole* drivetrain and suspension ...which I think has to present a reduced peak 'shock' wave on launch for any given power level and therefore (in theory, anyway) and a better opportunity, therefore, to hook (more net average energy to the ground per unit of time on launch which reduces the chance of breaking loose or, conversely, raises that threshold a bit). That said, there's no bushings to pre-load after the trans (all-Heim race susp) but there's still the chassis and suspension itself -- i.e. the pinion rotational torque pre-loading the rear springs (one 'up' and one 'down') and pre-torquing the chassis slightly ...and maybe that's part of the beneficial effect on launch. Hard to explain in words but I've always felt it has to be inherently better to launch that way. Kinda funny too since in the old days power-breaking was sort of *the* way to preload an otherwise unpredictable leaf springsuspension (unless ladder bars, etc) and far less rigid chassis of the day with an auto trans.
