:new2:L&M and Tasca has just finished testing on the New L&M 82mm TB For the 5.0 .

We expect to be releasing the new 82 L&M for the 5.0 in the next few weeks, stayed tuned.

Driveabilty, idle ETC act like stock.

Dyno chrts below,
First chart = Stock 5.0 with Ford Racing Part # M-9603-MGTB (Air Filter and Calibration) and Ford Racing Part # M-5230-MGTCA30 (3 inch cat back exhaust.

Second chart = replacing the stock 5.0 TB with the new 82mm 5.0 L&M TB

Nice Jim....only 6hp gain...is that right? What size is the 5.0 stocker.

He could be like other vendors and just tell you 15 hp gain if you like? LOL

Correct it was 6.6 HP and about 15 pounds of torque
(L&M tb is 82mm Stock 5.0 TB is 80MM) You can not put anything larger then a 82mm on the 5.0. The manifold opening is 82mm which limits it to that size.

Remember guys this is a NA motor only making 400hp.

5.0 NA motors are not like gt500 with blowers on them.(they don't require as much CFM and they don't have a blower sucking in the air)
Its a lot harder to pick up HP in these NA motors(unless you add a blower LOL) If a blower is added then the TB will be worth 25hp plus)

The more HP you make the more the TB will be worth. (so a 2 percent gain from the start with that alone really isn't to bad as a bolt on)

Here is an example Ford Racing Part # M-9603-MGTB (Air Filter and Calibration) added to the 5.0.

So you have a basleine chart
One with the Ford Cal and MAF added
An exhaust added to the car
And then a L&M TB
with all these changes the car picked up around 35HP which is huge for a NA setup

On these cars at least a Ford cal is needed really to gain any benefit from any added component to the 5.0, if not ford has the TB blades closing at wot to keep the power around the stock number It will not allow the engine to make any addition power (Exhaust, TB air filter etc unless that is changed) They will gain under the curve if its not done but it will be limited to around 378 at peak

Thx Jim....good numbers for sure for a NA eng...no doubt...was just thinking maybe 10 based on the bore size compared to stocker...whatever it is...look forward to pics....

...looks like a solid 25Tq gain from start of pull to upper 3000s -- just on the TB ...that's big!

Yes, and IMO the torque gain is more important. American's buy HP, but we drive torque. How often do you see torque advertised in a car ad? not often....but the peak torque numbers are typically in the "normal" driving range, whereas peak HP is typically near the top of the RPM range due to it's calculated dependence on RPM.

Well done Jim.

We just finished our production TB which we made a few minor changes to over the protype.(which did help)
We where able to pick up another 3-4 hp and another 10 pounds of torque over our protype piece.(Just about 10hp now over stockTB and 25 or so pounds of torque)
I will post a picture of the production TB once they are back from polishing and blacken.

I included the dyno sheet with the production TB(blue) overlaying the protype TB(red)4231

very nice, Jim

...so, from FRPP tune with stock TB to FRPP tune with L&M 82 should now be something like +35 tq or so in the low-mid? ...that's *huge* on an NA motor bolt-on!

maybe move this thread to the 5.0 forum, it's hidden here under the GT500 performance forum

Tasca and L@m you cant do better than that for know how and years of experience on both sides. I believe Tasca will have a new Mod shop this summer to adress all your performance needs

Awesome! Makes a lot of sense since the Shelby-driven mod shop volumes have largely colapsed, I'd guess -- and Tasca has so many more opportunities to do their own thing too.
