Management of attachments sems to have some unweildy characteristics. Discussion in this thread with explanation of what folks are concerned about, which I summarized in post #7 there (http://67.222.8.137/~stangsun/showthread.php?307-Good-ol-boys-have-a-fix-for-the-Gulf!&p=6552#post6552).

Further discussion should be here.

Possibly (dunno) the problem might be fixed if the attachment actually leaves the list after the '1-hour to insert' (or other suitable interval) as long as the attachment doesn't go away from a thread it's already been inserted in ...which is what is claimed happens to any attachments that are deleted in the manage-attachements panel.

This looks like a job for....

Jokerman.

Or CD.

I have no idea how to even begin looking for where to change that. Let alone how to change that.

Adding isn't the problem. Removing from the attachment management box is. They stay there until deleted, which i@ done in settings, but also deleted it from the thread. Not very user friendly. Or at a techy thread on how it works.

Now how do I delete that pic to see if it goes away?

I deleted it and see that the pic was deleted from my post #3. :doh2:

Which is why it is better to use something like photobucket, because your file quota could be reached very quickly by uploading the picture here instead of a picture hosting site.

I know. Just a PITA to upload every pic to Photobucket every time I want to post it.

Perfect world would be the "one time use" type file insert. But no big deal if we can't do that.

Yep. Why are people deleting attachements? We have unlimited space right now for them.

Also I'm already at my Photobucket limit.

However, if I delete my Photobucket pics and start over, they will all disappear from SM. :tease2:

Make a new email address like gmail and start a new account over there. Will that work to set up a new account?

Pay for the upgraded account or start a new account.

I think you'll need another e-mail address for a new account.

I did some reading and I think the attachment system is set this way on VB4. I'll do some more checking when I have time.

No biggie right now. This isn't a priority to getting the site up today.
