Why does Ford put car tires on trucks. look at the wheel opening makes the tires look small. Nice truck though. but the tires and wheels need to go. Maybe the dealer could do something in the deal. Black is hard to keep nice also.

Yea, they aren't the best looking. I usually switch tires to AT's on my trucks anyway. Keeping it clean is tough, but my current chubby is green, so same issue. But it's a DD and work truck, so I really don't care how it looks day to day. It's a truck. Just looking for better gas mileage.

I just don't see how that small of a cubic inch engine can have any real low end torque for towing a car trailer. I think a car trailer would work the shat out of the EB. That's just my opinion, and the sales guy at my dealership I spoke to last night while out to dinner felt the same way.

I'd pick the 5.0 over both ...quickest in the little testing that's been released (Winding Road) ...and an awesome engine that there will likely be lots more available for, if that matters.

3.5EB - 365hp, 420tq, 15/21mpg (4x4 model)

5.0 - 360hp, 380tq, 14/19mpg (4x4 model)

6.2 - 411hp, 434 tq, 12/16mpg (4x4 model)

6.2 and EB have same max towing rating (11,300?? ...properly equipped)

5.0 has less, but is quicker than both.

They also state that the 5.4 that I have in my truck now should get 21 mpg highway. That is what was listed on the window sticker when I purchased it. I average 13.6 on the highway.

The only reason I would steer clear of the EB version would be the simple fact that FI is more stuff to break, it adds complexity, etc. If it was a vehicle I was planning to keep for many years I would think the 5.0/6.2 would be more "shade tree mechanic" friendly. If you're the type that trades out every few years, then I would consider the EB because of it's slight edge in fuel economy. Just a thought.

Gr8snkbite
02-27-2011, 10:01 PM
all vehicles now a days are more advanced in thier technology.....shade tree mechanic be damned....one way or the other, your gonna need the dealership or adv tools to work on, especially dealing with the ECM...the chebby has been free of any issues since i bought it in 98....can i same the same for the EB...dunno...

Ditto...funny thing is I've been mulling over this very same decision .....because of what I will use the truck for the most (daily driver and some trips) fuel milage is a big consideration. My heart says F150 Raptor but my head says F150Lariat / EB....Based on the way I option the truck out (fully loaded) they are within $1000 of each other.

2011 F150 Engine & Fuel Milage Ratings

Engine ----RWD City/Hwy ............ 4WD City/Hwy

3.7-liter V-6;
302 hp, 278 lb-ft ----17/23 mpg ........................ 16/21 mpg

5.0-liter V-8;
360 hp, 380 lb-ft ----15/21 mpg ........................ 14/19 mpg

3.5-liter EcoBoost;
365 hp, 420 lb-ft ----16/22 mpg ........................ 15/21 mpg

6.2-liter V-8;
411 hp, 434 lb-ft---- 13/18 mpg ........................ 12/16 mpg

The Raptor is realistically rated closer to .................. 11/14 mpg :surprised:
