are they any good?? I heard they fit our 9.5 stock wheels as they are slight skinnier than a normal 305...I dont think I would have any use for them since I never race and they are horrible on wet roads so not a good every day tire by any means...just curious....
They are a great tire! IMO
They are a complete zero in the rain and last a nanosecond.
Have a few buds with them and one is a wrench at a massive Tire shop and Toyo dealer, he gets them for cost and still byotches.

I have the 305-40-18's on the rears only and have been impressed. I drove from MS to Shelbyfest last year and anyone here who went could tell you we got a LOT of rain. No problem even at highway speeds. They do stick a ton better than the stockers on dry pavement. Down sides are: 1) They do stick a ton better than the stockers. Doing a little power slide or small burnout takes more foot. They are actually what has me considering more performance mods. 2) Doing only the backs retracts a little from the cars look.
:pimp:
Lot's of sizes too:

If you had them on all four corners you may have had less rain performance. IMO
Why did you only do the rears?

I was taking it to the strip and needed more traction. It seemed like a waste to do all four just for looks.

305/35/18 is the exact size of the Toyo's going on the new wheels. Nice to see I have an exact fit for the strip

I have the Nitto 555R II's on the back of mine. I widened the wheels though so I could get the full footprint of the tire.
They are awesome traction when the temps are over 65 degrees.
I did drive all the way to Orfstock last year w/ them. They did scare me a little in the rain so I backed the speed off a bit.

So you have different tire on the front too?

Yes.
I have BFG KDW's on the front. I think? :doh2:
On my track car I have Nitto 555R II's all the way around.

thx guys..I was just curious as someone was offering me a brand new set for a trade...I am 99.9% not interested as I will have no use for them at all...and they would simply just take up space in my garage...

How wide and what size tire?

Mine are widened to 11".
I have Nitto 555rII's on it that are 305/ 35ZR 18's
With the car lowered it rubs a touch under certain circumstances.
I have the panhard bar centered to clear the best and have ground down the bump stop mounts a touch.
Also removed the rear shock boots.
All this has been well worth it though because now I have killer traction when it's warm and a load of fun when it's cool out.

At the time...I bought 2 wheels from http://www.blueovalindustries.com/wheels/wh1345.html , and had them shipped Directly to Weldcraftwheels... http://www.weldcraftwheels.com/
The wheels at the time were like $225 each, Weldcraftwheels widened them And delivered them for another $225? Each if I remember correctly. Cheaper than I could find a nice wheel elsewhere.
They did an awesome job and I have had a couple sets of tires on them since :innocent:
It was one. Of the best mods I have done, probably second behind the TVS that I'm gonna give to Monkey Boy one day.

Did you ever go to a wider tire Chef?
I have the 305's and they are great when temps are over 50 degrees, hot the better.

Need new rear tires soon ... Just don't know what yet

Yeah, very hard to find an all weather tire w/ traction for a high HP car.

Bummed that bf Goodrich stopped making the kdw in that size

Hey Bill, did you widen your rears or did you fit a 305 on the stock rim? Now that mine is a toy and not a DD, I may venture in to more fun tires now..............................didn't make any sense as a DD in T exas as heat and concrete roads woul eat up good tires in les than a year..........

Glad to hear the GT500 is now officially a toy, Mike!! :chirp: ;-)

I bought 2 factory wheels, had them shipped directly to have them widened to 11". A lot cheaper than buying new aftermarket wheels.
i beleive it was http://www.weldcraftwheels.com/
they ran about $225 per wheel, plus wheel, including shipping I think?

Were there specs you had to give to get them widened to avoid rubbing????

no, but I had to center the pan hard bar, remove shock boots and slightly grind the bump stop frame pads to keep from rubbing a bit w my FRPP lowering kit. Works great now.

I'm wondering if it would not be worth going to 10.5" custom made with 315s (or even 325s)? Would that extra 1/4" have removed the need to grind for clearance?
I understand wanting as much wheel width as possible but the back of the GT500 is relatively light (relative to the front) so can handle a rear tire that's wider realtive to wheel width (within reason) because, on turn-in, there's not much weight to delay set-up time at the rear and front set-up time is relatively long, hence the GT500 going with narrrower tires up front (to shorten front tuen-in set-up time).
In contrast, consider something like a Porsche that wants a rear tire substantially narrower than the rear wheels since much of its weight is in the rear and turn-in set-up time in the rear needs to be as rapid as possible to keep up with the light front's turn-in set-up response time) ...a very difffernt situation.
When front and rear turn-in set-up times are substantially out of sync, various handling abberations result
That said, the absolute wides tires that will fit on 11" wide wheels (as TG did) is probably a good choice, clearance issues notwithstanding, but the same tires on 10.5" (possibly with the same series tires TG used) might work well too ..no clearance issues and the same tires on a slightly narrower rim might eliminate tire clearance issues too (dunno since don't know how much material had to be removed where with 11s). The slightly slower turn-in response *may* actually better match the heavier front's response better, tho the prefered approach is always to make the front the quickest possible based on what can be matched in the rear, but on a nose heavy car the rear can typically easily best the fron't response (and just the opposite is typically true on something like a Porsche).
Of course if handling not a prime consideration, the decisions are a bit easier, but *if* 10.5s do the trick and with similar tires can better match the front's *stock* characteristics, then it's potentially a win-win. Only one way to find out :shades:
Sorry for the difficult read but it's hard to talk on this in print and have it make sense (with no hand gestures possible -lol).
