Picked up a Pioneer AVIC Z120BT, Ipod cord, and rear view camera!!

JL Audio HD600 Amp for the door speakers...

http://www.onecrazydog.com/pictures/albums/Shelby_Mods/P1020602.JPG

Focal 6.5 component speakers to replace the 6x8's in the doors...

http://www.onecrazydog.com/pictures/albums/Shelby_Mods/P1020601.JPG

Focal 8" mid/bass to replace the subs in the doors...

http://www.onecrazydog.com/pictures/albums/Shelby_Mods/P1020594.JPG

I haven't decided what to put in the rear side panels yet, they are basically just "filler" anyway...

For now I will just hook the shaker 1000 box and amps up to the deck and eventually (when I can afford it) will get two 10" subs for in the trunk, and another JL Audio amp to run them ... The amps are stackable too...

I could have almost bought a TVS, but would rather have better tunes, nav and the rear camera... Specially for a long road trip!!

Sounds like a good plan. I have never liked messing with electrics, but I do know there are many out there who can do this stuff to themselves. I have been told that the newer vehicles are getting easier as they are becoming more plug and play?

Some very nice speakers there. The k series are not cheap. Any plans to deaden the doors? They rattle pretty good with any bass in them.
I've got a huge lot of JBL BPX amps/ GTI 10's/ GTI 660& 550 mids/ and some B&C pro audio 8s waiting for the JBL MS8 before I can get everything installed. I'll post some pics up of the equipment later. Ive added a ton of weight in sound deadener but well worth it. Still need to buy a new battery as well.

Like you I could have went all power mods but I enjoy quality music.

Post up pics when you decide to get everything installed.

Also if your not stuck on any brand, Boston Acoustic and JBL sell manufacturer refurbs with warranty. Way to save a ton

I like quality sound too!! I will dynamat the doors to deaden the rattling a bit!! Going to get the install done on the 15th!! Alley should be melted by then, maybe... At least it will be warmer outside, I hope!! LOL!!

Also thinking about getting a pair of Focal KRX2 165's for the doors and putting the K2's I have in the rear side panels... The Utopia series are really sweet but way out of my price range... 1 pair of 6.5's = a TVS, with a pulley...

Got the install booked for the 14th, will probably take two days... I am going to put the K2's I got in the rears sides and run them and the door subs off the amp and am going to go with the Focal KRX2 165's in the doors and another HD600 Amp to run them... Two channels for the tweets and two for the mids... When I get back from Shelby fest I will start saving for the sub system, so they will do the install with a third amp in mind...

I was talking about it with the guy today and he started to get out of hand with the amp installation talk!! They will have to go in the trunk and he was saying they could make a box with false bottoms to hide the cables and do Plexiglas with the lights and stuff... I said I don't even want to know what that costs, and would be happy if they just screwed the amps down and used some tie wraps and electrical tape!! Simple and tidy... He did mention they will have to put in some power cell or whatever too...

Maybe I better put one of those alt's on the list too...

Dropped the car off this morning to get the stereo installed!! The new exhaust sounds awesome, was nice to drive it again too!! It was cold out so I couldn't get on it too much, seriously thinking about putting different tires on for the trip unless it really warms up fast...

Changed some things for the system too... I am eliminating the 8" mid/bass in the doors and going with Focal 165 KRX3's in the front doors, and will run them off the JL 600 amp I have...

http://www.focal-america.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/165krx3-e1288031792497.jpg

The Focal KR2's I have will go in the rear side panels and just run off the deck for filler...

Still need to figure out a sub... Might rip out the shaker box and put a real sub and amp in the trunk for now... Same guy that installed my truck stereo 4 yrs ago is doing the Shelby install too!!

They are putting one of these in the trunk for the amps, they said all the cool peeps have one...

The city streets are all dry but have sand and gravel from winter on them, but the street cleaners have been out!! The alley ruts are all melted to pools of water, that were frozen this morning so I didn't even get the tires wet!!

I stopped by the stereo shop to give them some more money today (sorry TVS), and they had the doors dynamatted and were working on the door panels... He made an adaptor ring and installed the 6" woofers where the 8's were in the bottom of the doors, using the factory grill and trim ring... Stealth!! The 3' mids and the tweeters will go on a 6x9' plate... The guys told me that the rear fillers will not be needed, and putting kr2's back there is total overkill, so I got a credit for them...

For sub power I decided to get a JL Stealthbox and a JL HD750 1ch amp to run it, going to dynamat the trunk to keep the rattling down... Lol, all the weight I took off it is going right back on!!

The 8" factory woofer weighs about a pound if that :doh2:, the Focal 6" woofer has an aluminum basket yet weighs 5 pounds... One big azz magnet!!

Car will be ready Monday but the sub may not get there until Wed, has to come in from :usaflag:!!

Rap is cool...

Back on topic, this morning I had an Epiphany about mounting the amps... Instead of making a mounting board and all that jazz, I came up with the idea to put them in the spare tire well with the compressor and that stupid goo that just wrecks the tire and tpm sensor... I have a plug repair kit that I keep in the car, I would never use that fix a flat can o' crap...

Wow I see now why you have to have it installed by a pro. I cant believe how much wiring there is. Why is the cover on the sub woofer stick out so far You also had to add a battery? Why not upgrade the alternator and install a higher ampere battery. Didn't they add a capacitor for the base?
Looks outstanding just the same. I would sure like some more base in my car to. The shaker 1000 is week I would have been better off with the 500 then rip it out and do what you did

Tons of wires!! The sub came like that, it is the JL stealthbox made for our cars but it does stick out a bit farther than the shaker 1000... The thing pounds though, more than I thought it would!! I went with an audio battery add on so the amps don't put huge power draws on the factory system... Seems to work good so far!! I will most likely upgrade the alternator too, just to be on the safe side... I put two high capacitors in the sub amp and one in the amp running the three ways... Really tightens up the base... Wish I would have done it before SF!!

68fastback

Low frequencies are highly omnidirectional so pointing of the subs doesn't negatively affect the overall sound as it would with other frequencies ...sometimes it even helps.

Cool ideas -- both the stereo/gauges and the battery/ignition fuse-blocks.

The one off the ignition should really control a [separate] high-capacity relay that then feeds that block, else it's too easy to overload and fry the car's ignition relay (unless they're all low amperage items) which always seems to happen at the most inconvenient time -lol

X-Series GPS Speedometer Delivers MPH/KPH, Altitude, Heading & Track Mapping Capability...

AEM’s X-Series GPS Speedometer (PN 30-0313) display ground speed, course and altitude via an included 10Hz GPS receiver. Users can integrate the X-Series GPS Speedo into an Infinity ECU to add track mapping, and an included Vehicle Speed signal can be outputted to an existing speedometer to eliminate the need for a vehicle speed sensor.
A 10Hz GPS receiver receives speed, heading and altitude data from multiple satellites at 10 samples/second providing excellent accuracy and reliability. The GPS receiver includes a magnet and adhesive bottom for exterior mounting on the vehicle.
The X-Series GPS Speedometer Gauge has a bright four-digit LED display that is 87% larger than our original digital gauges and provides better readability. A sweeping LED “needle” lines the edge of the gauge face for quick reference. A 33% overall increase in the gauge face display makes it easier to see at a glance. X-Series Gauges come with a black bezel and faceplate, and an optional silver bezel/white faceplate accessory kit is available (PN 30-0313-ACC, sold separately).
Despite the larger display, X-Series Gauges are contained in a standard 2-1/16th-inch (52mm) diameter housing for mounting in a standard gauge pod. Thanks to an advanced single board design, X-Series Gauges have an incredibly slim overall depth of under 0.825”, with a cup depth of only 0.200.” This shallow cup depth allows X-Series Digital Gauges to be mounted practically anywhere.

When I run my drag radials the speedometer is off...

Gathering up all the stuff I need,

Foam speaker rings, and a few sheets of sound mat for under the door panels...

I already have a bunch of speaker wire and power and ground cable, but I need a bigger fused power distributor and ground blocks... I need ones with 2 inputs and at least 4 outputs!!

Need to get some acrylic rings made, and get some of that glue this guy in the video has...

That is really an involved process, but way cool!!

Amazing no one seems to make such replacement A-pillar trim for mids/tweeters! ...I bet there's a good market for them!!

That adhesive is a 10-sec cyanoacrylate -- cool!

I use an industrial 1-3 sec and a 15 sec for various projects but I no longer use accelerators b/c it weakens the bond somewhat, imo. But, being able to apply it from the back of that stretchy fabric might just be ideal for using an accelerator.

Definitely a good idea to pick up some un-cure/debonder when working with cyanoacrylate. If you do a search on "parts express cyanoacrylate uncure" you'll find it (green cap). I also use "parts express Insta-Cure cyanoacrylate adhesive" (they don't make the stuff but their price is good and fast shipping). Parts Express is a good supplier I've used for years for lots of DYI projects.

Went to start the gauge pod install last night... Turns out the holes cut in the pod are bigger than my gauges... Oops, should have payed closer attention to that... Autometer also makes a center pod that will fit my gauges, should have got that one... Still might...

I was excited about hooking up the new gauge, and was like now what... I didn't have a big enough piece of thick plastic to modify and redrill the Shelby pod holes, so that was out... So, I regrouped and rolled a big joint!! That gauge is going in there somewhere!!

I was looking at the driver side vent and thought, that will work for now, so I built a pod... the gauge mounted perfectly inside a piece of 2" pvc tubing I had, so I used it and some plastic putty repair I had on hand, and built this, LOL

25087

Looks like gums,

Cool vent speedo! I assume it adds function over the standard speedo ...recording maybe?

The biggest thing is it's a gps signal, it will read correct no matter what size rear tires I have on... My drag radials throw the speedo out by about 10mph... I would be going faster than than the factory one shows...

It does record the peak speed...

68fastback
07-22-2019, 10:41 PM
Ah, yeah ...forgot about that

...funny thing is I often watch the MPH on the GPS when in the Ranger which has oversize tires for the same reason. I also watch if ion the Fusion whose speedo reads about 2-over at 70 ;-)
