Anyone know where I can find a 1-1/4'' deep U-Nut (M6.1.0 thread)
I've checked the internet and every supplier in my area and the biggest I can find is 3/4'' deep.
I only need 1.

Thought for sure I'd find it on McMaster Carr's web site. Nope.

This (http://www.mcmaster.com/#u-style-nuts/=bo80t0) is all they show for M6.

They do have a 1 1/4" deep U Nut, but it's in 3/8" - 16.

I've had good luck going to a local bodyshop and asking them. I was able to get all of the hardware needed to put the underside of my front bumper back together and firm it all back up....and they gave it to me free!

I tried that, they all looked for one but no one had one.

I found one very similar to what you're looking for but the thread count was standard, not metric so I am assuming it would not work. It appeared to be about 1 1/4" long though, it didn't say on the tray so I had to use my calibrated eye. I think the thread count was 3/16? Not real smart on these types of fasteners just going off what the label said.

The ones I found are M10 but they are 1 1/4 total length...

...that link Joe posted has a lot of 'em here (http://www.fastenal.com/web/products.ex?N=0&Ntk=Search+All&Ntt=u+nuts&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&searchBox=1), but don't seem to sell singles.

If the part is off your Shelby, did you think to try your Ford dealer? Short of that, a local auto salvage yard. Just a thought.

Thanks everyone for your help and ideas but I still haven't found one yet. This nut isn't Ford specific it is for a custom application. I know a guy who works for a machine shop and I'm going to ask him if he can custom make one for me. I wonder if we could cut 2 in half and weld them together to make one the 1-1/4 I need???

Does it have to be 6mm? I found the one that is 3/8". You'd go from a a 1/4" hole to a 9/16" hole in the parts being joined.

Seems quicker, easier, and cheaper than a custom made U Nut...

I thought of this but the bolt head is exposed and I'm trying to keep everything uniform looking.
There are a couple work-arounds I've figured out for this but I was just trying to find correct part before I went that way.

Good to see everyone pitching in on the site to help you Alan ....kudos to all who contributed :wtg: I typically use Fastenal or NAPA for my hardware needs.

I've made them myself but the shipping and handling would kill you. :wow2:

This might seem very simplistic, but who made the original and why can't you get it from them?

I don't think there was an original - sounds like Alan is doing a mod where he needs to add this clip.

NO, and I don't think anyone makes one this size either. I did come up with a good work around that ended up being a good temp fix. I know a guy thats works for a machine shop but hes on the road 3 weeks a month. He promised me when he gets back in town he will personally custom make one for me. I should be good to go by ShelbtFest.
