Your going to love it. My friend got one , black/black, about a month ago. I drove it around and it's got plenty of power, and the interior is finished beautifully. He trailered his boat (26') for the first time last week and he said he hardly knew it was there. Good luck.

The Rouge features the largest living roof (green roof) i the automotive world and is one of the largest in world overall. During WW-II the Rouge produced jeeps, tank parts and Sherman tank engines (the famous Ford DOHC V12-derived 60* V8), and aircraft engines used in fighters and bombers (B-24 Liberator). The Rouge has an amazing history -- I'd love to take the tour sometime. I've read that as of 2008 (5th year after it's massive renovation) it was already the largest attraction in the greater Dearborn area with someting approaching a half-million (??) visitors.

I guess those half a million visitors have paid for that roof. I toured it 2 times already. Once on an off day that I didn't know about and the other on a production day. It is a pretty neat tour to go on. Put that on your bucket list.

Well, I don't think an Air Force Thunderbird pilot would plan to intentionally eject out of a 30 million dollar F-16 and if he did the Air Force probably would have an issue with it. It was an air show a couple years back and if I recall right he forgot to adjust his barometric altimeter (could have been his radar altimeter too not sure on their procedures for high speed low altitude aerobatics) prior to take off. He initiated a high speed low altitude loop in front of the crowd and didn't have sufficient altitude to recover the loop. Realizing his error at the bottom of the loop he initiated the girly man handle and exited the aircraft. Within a second of his departure the aircraft pancaked in front of the crowd. There's actually a video of it too. Pretty amazing footage. The aircraft is immediately destroyed but the engine actually is ripped free of the fuselage and proceeds to rocket down the ground for a mile or so! :doh2: Fortunately no one was hurt except for the pilot's ego and career. :shades:

One of my best buddies got jets out of flight school and ended up flying AV-8B Harriers, aka The Widowmaker aka Carolina Lawn Dart. He had controllability issues on a night bombing hop out of MCAS Yuma, AZ about 5 or 6 years ago. Coming back to the airfield on short approach to the runway, the aircraft did an un-commanded roll. He ejected inverted at night at 1,000' AGL (above ground level). He said that all he remembers was a flash, a load bang and waking up on the ground with a huge fireball about a half mile away where the aircraft impacted. They calculated in the investigation that his chute had reached full bloom just prior to him impacting the ground, just enough to save his life and serious injury. The whole thing took less than 1 second. He's never flown again since that and has since departed the Marine Corps. Both were his decision because as he said to me, "I realized it just wasn't worth it anymore". His decision was probably pretty easy since he has a wife and two children too. :shades:

They do have a 2 seat version of the F-16 but it's a trainer aircraft. The F-4 Phantom was an awesome aircraft. Wasn't known for it's maneuverability but it had two big GE J-79 engines. Pilots often referred to the F-4s as a rocket with wings. I've seen them fly on multiple occasions and they do have a very distinct sound especially when they go into burner. I have two buddies who's father's both flew F-4 Phantoms for the Marines. Smart Phantom drivers knew not to get into a turning fight so when they get into a brawl with a smaller more maneuverable adversary they would immediately go into a vertical climb and full afterburner. This would allow them to out climb the bad guy and then immediately snap into a dive on their (usually still turning adversary who hadn't realized the Phantom had popped into a max rate climb) bandit, get a missile lock and let a Sparrow or Sidewinder come off the rail. Maybe someday I'll get a ride in one but I highly doubt that will ever happen. The closest I ever came to that was getting a flight in a F/A-18D (2 seater) on a 2v2 air to air training hop over the Sierra Nevada's. It was a wild ride and I got to see the majestic Sierra Nevada's from about every angle you can imagine. :shades:

Well, considering the Air Force didn't exist until after WWII you would be correct. :shades:
A really good buddy of mine in Elizabeth City, NC lives a few houses down from the house of the guy who sold the wood to Orville and Wilbur (of course he's long gone). I've walked by the house many a time. There's some more interesting history for you.

The truck was shipped from Dearborn and off loaded from the train on the 28th at the New Jersey terminal. It's now waiting shipment by truck to Park City Ford in Connecticut ...Hopefully arriving by the end of the week. I probably won't see it until early next week though because it will need to get the "Rhino liner spray on bed liner installed first and that takes 24hrs...:faint:

Good catch, JT! I looked up a bunch of them and all the EB's are like that. Dunno, but my guess is that's how they're getting the additional airflow area to support that extra 100 HP or so of cooling.

Multimatic Box-StepDESCRIPTION
The Box-Step is a pickup truck frame mounted deployable step which facilitates access to the front of the truck bed (e.g. tool box access). The step is designed for foot operated step deployment and stowage. The step is deployed by a gas strut which is damped to ensure quality perception.
TECHNICAL BENEFITS
500 lb load capacity with 'solid' feel
Gas strut and stainless steel PTFE bushings ensure trouble-free operation
and damped deployment
Hands-free operation (foot operated release button)
Fully validated design that is in production
Stowed appearance can be customized to various styling requirements
Bolt-on step can accommodate varying body styles / frame lengths
Frame mounting does not impose loads into truck box
This too! http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z234/svtbird91/Ford%20F150/IMG_4872.jpg
Multimatic Step GateDESCRIPTION
The Tailgate Integrated Step facilitates ingress/egress to the truck box and is fully hidden when not in use. A second generation design incorporates additional features for the tailgate.

The height of the 4x4 F150 is a little startling at first. I'm 5'10" and the top of the tailgate is higher than my shoulder.

Very nice truck George. I have a feeling that Keith will still need a step ladder to get to the man steps. I think I may need to consider the side steps for the Raptor. I hope they don't cost an arm and leg for them.
