I know the dealership. I am fi ding it hard to believe that they didn't know what they had.

Somewhat of an oversight on Ford's part. Should have been a PR generator at a Barrett Jackson type event (not a fundraiser, but a PR generator).

:wow2:What a great story for the "little guy" to get #1 off the assembly line. If it truly is #1.

If it is truly #1, I've seen where Corporate has stepped in an "bought" the car back over a "mistake" like this. Will be interesting to see what comes of this. He may end up with a free Boss, money in the bank and have to give back #1.

Great story and nice that the car WILL be driven as opposed to just being stored.

Great story...I vaguely remember a similar story about the very first Mustang ever produced in 1964 1/2....I believe Ford bought it back from the guy and gave him a new car besides....it was a neat story.

Yeah I remember that ...he was a pilot and it was a 64.5 Wimbledon white straight-6, I think ...he was the original owner.

Did some searches but couldn't find it.

Interesting, he ended it early. Yesterday the bidding was up to $69,300 the reserve not yet met.

Wow! Good find, Rick!

Well, can't say I blame him. Hope he makes enough to pay for another one like he was saying! Would be cool to keep 0001 but as a dad with young kids I can understand him going this route.

OK he said if somebody local would be interested he would stop the auction.
