So if someone on the forum came to your town, where would be some good places for them to eat?
List a good casual dining place and perhaps a nicer place as well.

We've got a great local place called G&M. It's one of the more popular places to get crab cakes around here.

That depends, if you mean Hammond or New Orleans.
Hammond.
Casual dining I would suggest Cate Street Seafood.. Its a seafood place in an old train next to the tracks. Very casual but fun.
Fancy Tope La http://www.topela.com/ French American cuisine that won't break the bank..
New Orleans
Casual - Port of Call - The go to place after a night out on Bourbon http://www.portofcallneworleans.com/
Fancy - Commanders Palace - creole http://www.commanderspalace.com/
Middle of the road for real cajun food. http://www.mulates.com/

We have a place not 10 minutes from Evolution Performance. It is called New Orleans Cafe. The food is authentic cajun. The prices are fair and the portions are huge. Chef Dan runs a great place. Located in chichester, Pa
Next time any one is in town for some car work let me know. The dinner is on me!!

Casual: Kooky Canuck (http://www.kookycanuck.com/) awesome burgers, right near Beale Street. They even have a 12 lb burger! And of course there's BBQ, my favorite is Top's (http://www.topsbarbq.com/) but Interstate (http://www.interstatebarbecue.com/)is most famous.
Nice: Circa (http://www.circamemphis.com/) I can't vouch for it personally cuz I'm not into that fine dining kinda stuff but I hear it's really good

...lots of folks from around here.....so each will weigh in differently.....but of course the BBQ is outstanding....many will advocate Arthur Bryants or Gates....but my favorite is a very little shop in north kansas city, mo (just north of the mo river in the central part of kc) called smoking guns.....
http://www.smokingunsbbq.com/
only open during the week....lunch and into the afternoon a bit....but lovely stuff; you will not get anything fancy here...but good meat, enjoyable sauce, and decent fries, slaw etc.......always leave happy, and I am quite fussy about my bbq.....

That is exactly what its like here.. Remind me to tell you about my very first meal in the US.. OMG you'll be on the floor rolling. I want to throw up thinking about it.. BTW it involves Ryans and 12 years later I hate the place with so much you would believe it.

...will get a few drinks into you, and then I will ask........hopefully throwing up will now longer be an option at that point; since I do not think you are prone to wasting good alcohol....but I can well imagine....hungry folks (not really, but they think they are) in the US can be quite aggressive at these buffets....you just want to shake them and say the food is not in danger of running out....but, don't want to put my arm out around them.......they might try to put some sauce on it and start gnawing away.........

Hmmmmm, for Dallas there are so many places.............
One of my favorites is in Addison, TX and it's called Kenny's Woodfire Grille. Darkside can attest to it. They have Grey Goose on tap (they make some delish martinis there). All meals are started with a fresh from the oven popover and they have some of the biggest (U10) shrimp. Yum.
Now, me and the Mrs. love sushi. Our favorite is Kenichi which is in downtown Dallas in Victory Park (in the same building as the W Hotel). It has the biggest sake lists (150+ and growing) in Texas and probably biggest outside of NY and Cali. A close second on sushi is Shinsei. They have an amazing pressed sushi and their cocktails (lychee martini or a purple basil mojito for example) are unique and delish.
Of course, Mexican food is top draw here. One can go to Mi Cocina (although I tend to partake in their Mambo Taxi's........a frozen margarita with a shot of Everclear and a scoop of frozen Midori in it) for their delish food. Matito's is my personal fave for food, always start with the Bob's dip.........queso with meat, guac and sour cream all together.......YUM

Flemings for fine dining, I tried to stay away from a chain but from the places I have visited this is the best. Ruffino's Italian is a close 2nd.
