Added new brakes to the TRack turd.

These lasted me 3 full track weekends. :wtg:

I had Brembo slotted rotors w/ Raybestos pads.

Awesome grip and lasted me 3 full weekends! :wtg:

My spares are Powerstop slotted rotors and Porterfield pads....that is what I just put on....we'll see which holds up better.

The Raybestos pads are the best pads i have ever put on anything. They really are awesome....but are only for racing....they are actually very loud on the street in stop and go stuff.

Also, Raybestos pads are very expensive and hard to find and get since Pro motorsports like NASCAR uses them all up.

I like the vane design in the Brembo rotors much better than the Powerstop rotors.

I've been running the Porterfields for the last couple of years. I love them, they are definitley better than stock (once they're warm), way less dust. I'm curious to see how you like them on the track.

I have Porterfields on my GT500.

Always have.

These are on the SN-95 track car....we'll see how it goes.

Hope you have been well Rags, haven't seen you on in a while.

Sweet. Look forward to the comparison on performance.

When I ran my GT500 at the track w/ Porterfields they only lasted 2 weekends.

My track car is 600 lbs lighter, but a touch smaller brakes so we'll see.

I don't know if I'll ever wear my rotors down in my driveway. Takes a lot of trips.

The powerstop rotors look like they were close to grenading. :yikes:

Those were the Brembo's that I took off.

I just put on the Powerstops.

New set up looks good, one or the biggest expenses of recreational racing is the dammmm brakes...Money well spent though.

I run the http://www.jlevistreetwerks.com/images/porterfield_brakes_e46_1-WM.jpg on the GT500 too. Good product. IMO
Made in :unitedstates: too, which is good, as most Brake Pads these days are made by the Enemy.

try using tranny and throttle more and less brake....

Won't downshiifting create more stress on the clutch/tranny? I'd rather replace brakes more often than a clutch. :spend:

depends on the turns and how fast your going into them...the long session with turns i can see braking, but the shorter runs/turns, shouldnt need much, if at all....jmo..but what do i know...

...engine braking will necessarily hurt lap times because if you can afford to throw more braking to the rear with clutch, then you're suboptimized to begin with. If you're braking-balanced, then downshifting is an just an engine-speed=>road-speed matching event, not a braking event.

In the old days engine braking was used more because brakes sucked. It also sounds great!! But better brakes will yeild better lap times than downshift engine-braking.

True.

In effect, at the track, you are either on the gas or on the brake.

Most people seem to brake longer/sooner for fear of the brakes giving out and going into the grass. W/ my set-up I have learned that I can keep on the gas well up to the corner then brake real hard then get back on the gas.

I brake really late w/ my set-up, but it gives me more time that I am speeding forward.

W/ heavier cars like GT500's they can't brake as late, so I have to take advantage of those minute seconds.
