right, understand this part MC,but nobody drives these in 30's/40's...if that would be the case I'd understand.Maybe it's just me...

I used to drive mine in 30 to 40 F weather all the time. :shades:

,guess one needs to be very gentle with the "go peddle" in the 30's though...

Even 40, 50, and 60 temps have had affects until the tranny is fully warmed up....

The MT82 is the new Getrag tranny in the 5.0/GT, so maybe lots of folks in colder climates drive them in dry weather?

:giggle: It can be interesting when you push a little too fast on the go peddle.

Exactly....good point Dan!

Not sure what kind of 1st gear they have in the MT82 but the disparity between 1st and 2nd in the GT500 TR6060 is way too much because of the very low 1st gear (2.97 1st- 1.79 2nd) which puts quite a demand on the 2nd gear syncros especially when rapid shifting is attempted. It's that wide spread 1-2 gear set that adds to the problem IMO. I think the only thing Ford could do short of changing gear ratio's is to recommend a lighter oil.
It is for that reason I opted to upgrade to a close ratio 2.66 1st in my GForce modified transmission the car drives so much better now it's like a different car.

Yeah, the GT500 has gobs of low-end grunt. The MT82 has an even steeper 1st than the TR6060 but the NA 5.0 probably needs that:

1st 3.66

2n 2.43

3rd 1.69

4th 1.32

5h 1.00

6th 0.65
