Hey all,
So I did the safety course on Thursday/Friday and passed the skills section 1st attempt; did the road test today and passed as well :)
Picking the bike up on Tuesday; as much as I tried to resist I couldn't leave it un-modded, threw on a Stage 1 kit with V&H Big Shot staggereds (http://www.vanceandhines.com/products/st-0708-bigshotsstaggered/bigshotsstag.html), high flow intake and an ECM re-tune :)
Will post some pics after it is home.....and Amanda is available...

Nope....there was a mixup with the wrong part being in the box when they went to install the high flow air filter assembly as part of the Stage 1 upgrade...they flew a replacement part up and will be delivering the bike to my house tomorrow...disappointed in some ways but they are dealing with it really great...rained a bit up here tonight any way so only would have got about an hour in; hopefully will get a couple of hundred kms on it tomorrow night....will try grab some pics tomorrow

Thanks guys,
Really happy with how it turned out, the sound is exactly what I wanted, ballsy without the tinny sound some pipes add and no popping on decel....will try and get some video over the next bit but it is pretty close to this one...mine sounds throatier though with the tune I am running

Just over the 50% mark to my first service with 825 km on it so far; went out for a good run yesterday on about a 600 km round trip. Loving how it feels so far, found the lean limit in the curves already, bottomed the floorboards out in both left and right twisties :)
I am actually very surprised how nimble it is for a bike that weighs 730 pounds dry; full of fluids and with me and my gear the bike has got to be pushing 1050 pounds....had to do an emergency 3 push steer at about 120 km/h to avoid a huge piece of a blown out semi tire I came across just after the exit of a curve and it felt solid.....more to come...

So a bit of an update...put on just over 1800 km in the first 2 weeks and loving it...sadly the Shelby has not seen any action since I got it though but it will be out to play again soon enough :)
The dealership has been great to deal with, really glad I bought local. Have met quite a few guys around town with bikes, I think per capita this is the HD capital of the world, lots of them are a lot more into parking them at Tim Hortons and hanging out drinking coffee but have met a few who like to ride. I have a video cam now so will eventually grab some sound clips for you as promised.

Glad to hear you are enjoying the ride, time really flies when you ride. My story is exactly the opposite, my HD felt seriously neglected after I bought my Shelby.

1800 km x (1 ft/0.3048 m) x (1000 m/1 km) x (1 mile/ 5280 ft)= 103.91 miles

JTB is the site's official metric consultant :shades:
Let's see, the square root of (((1,800/mass-of-europe-in-kilos) X ((US-national-debt-in-yuan/(62.14 googleplex factorial))) = 1,118.52 miles! That's it!

I would be in the same boat no doubt if I had bought the bike before the car....going to head out to cruise night this week and waiting to hear back on an appointment to get all my 2010 goodies done by the end of the month....will be a lot more fun when I can actually get traction before 4th....

So I had a pleasant surprise today...weather has been warming up here (now above 0 for a high most days) so thought I would go over to the storage place and check the bike out...I was so busy when I put it away in Nov that I never went back and grabbed the battery so the plan today was to go pull it and put it on the trickle charger for a while....just for the hell of it I decided to see if it would crank and it fired right up! I heard so many rumours about how bad the security system drew the battery down and that you needed a tender if you were going to leave it for more than 2 weeks without driving it (etc)....mine sat in an unheated storage unit from Nov 12 to today without being started or charged and it fired right up so just another example of how much BS people post on the net...lol
Too messy to go out for a ride yet but was great just to listen to it run through the warm up period before shutting it down....can't wait to get the knees in the wind again within the next 3 weeks to a month or so....

Do you put a tender on your GT500?
I didn't need to the first winter, but the second one my battery died. I've had a tender on it ever since and it's held up fine.

Just finished my 3rd winter and I'm still on the original Battery (second engine though :shades:).
We don't get much snow so I typically just use an old motorcycle trickle charger for the times we do get snow and then when we have a break in the snow will start it up and drive it around the neighbourhood and give the batt a good charge, so far so good, I guess I'm on borrowed time now though and will need to get one of these soon...
