View Full Version : SHO on order

Well I finely talked my wife into buying a Ford so we ordered a SHO. I told my wife go big or go home. Naturally we got the fastest color Candy apple RED. Couldn't get the SHO performance package with adaptive cruise control. Way to go Ford. but got everything else on the car. We ordered it last Friday. Waiting for the order number so I can see if someone can track it for us.
? is the SHO a SVT vehicle and are the motors hand built like the GT500. Does anyone think it will take it longer than a month to SHO up.

I wouild think 6-8 weeks for delivery. It is a SVT vehicle but the motors are not hand built like the GT500. The GT500 is the only motor from Ford that is hand built with pride. Congrats on talking your wife into it. I am sure she will love driving it. Did you test drive any of the other Taurus' on the lot? I guess Ford thinks that your foot will be into the go pedal all the time so why waste money on something that is going to slow you down? The candy apple red is a nice color. There is a 800 number you can call for customer service to help track your order. You'll need the dealer number and order number to do that. The dealer should be able to give it to you.

I can hardly wait it is going to be the wife's daily driver. I wanted her to have a car that is nice and has the blue tooth capabilities. It had the sat nav system. We did drive a Taurus that they had on the lot. My wife made me drive it cause she was scared. then it was 2 weeks of trying to talk her into buying a Ford.
I finely got her to cave in to buy the Taurus I told her that she was going to test drive the car since it was going to be her car. When we got to the dealer and I told the salesman that she wanted a test drive he went and pulled the car out so Susan could drive it. She didn't want to but I told her that she had no choice. so she got in and drove it. she did like the car. Lots of room and the trunk is big enough to use not like in the Mustang.
They even gave us the X plan plus 2 grand off in incentives how cool is that.
Once she told me that she wanted a Camero then she wanted a Challenger. Finely after I told her the reason why she couldn't buy a GM or Chrysler. I do hope the quality of this car is top shelf or I will never hear the end of it. This will make 6 cars in the stable something will have to go.
My wife works hard so she deserves to have a new car. I think this will be her first new car ever. She is nervous about it though. Wait until she signs the papers.

That was a good price on the car. That is how I got my wifes Taurus. I am sure the quality is top notch, I know ours is. I am getting so used to driving the Taurus, I hope my wife doesn't want it back. I am using it because she has to go through about 10 miles of gravel road so she took the Fusion to beat up rather than a new car. They are doing bridge repair work on the road she takes to work.

Personally I think you will find the quality of the car very nice. I think they go a little extra on the SHO's. Although probably still somewhat cheap materials compared to the old days, I think they hide it well. It should be a great car to own for 10 years.

The SHO would be my pick for a sedan, they really have outdone themselves on the interior. Not trying to diminish the rest of the car, but the interior is really a cut above IMO.
Congratulations.

Went by the dealership and got the order # but Ford hasn't even picked up the order yet. Looks like they pick them up on Thursday but the order should have gone in last Monday. I bet they held on to it to fill other orders. That sucks. Carnut i love the inside to very nice layout I like the fact that the console is close to the seat. Makes me feel like I am part of the car. I was wondering how many they are building. The dealer told me about 10%.
I also told them not to drill the holes to put the front plate on but they said that it came like that from the factory. I call B/S. They also told me that if they didnt put it on the car they could get a ticket I call B/S again

They can't get a ticket! I call BS on them too! Especially since it will take weeks if not a month or more for the license plates to come it.
Tell them that if they drill the holes in the front bumber that you will not take delivery of the car. I doubt they come pre-drilled because not all states are the same yet the car is the same. Bet that changes their tune.

I would Art. I told the dealer when I bought my GT500 not the drill the holes for the front license plate and they said no problem.
I think they insist on doing it for the free advertisement they get out of it with the crappy paper plates they stick in there.

The bumper has "dimples" in it, but not drilled out. I agree with Joker, tell them you won't take delivery of the car if they drill it out or that they will agree to reimburse you in full the cost of a new bumper cover and the labor involved in prep/paint/install in cash.

Your going to love the adaptive cruise control. I used ours for the first time on the way back from Kansas City the other day. When you approach someone that is going slower, the car slows down to their speed. Once you pull out into the passing lane to go around, the car picks up speed to the setting you have it at. Plus, if you don't have the cruise control on and you come up to a slower vehicle quickly, it warns you with a red light on the dash and a beeping sound. The blind spot warning is another great option especially when backing up out of a parking spot and you can't see anything on both sides of you. If you got the NAV, it is pretty cool since it gives you the weather radar so you know where it is raining. The rain sensing wipers is another good option. With all these options, all you have to do is get in and drive. It sure will spoil you.

Tough to track a car with no VIN. And that is the plain if they drill i will not take delivery. I am so looking forward to thios car coming in. They realy didnt want to order me the car they wanted to find me one instead. I dont know what is going on here but they weren't to happy to see me today. All I did was ask for the VIN. What a sad day we had
Car came in and reduiced the wife to tears.
It had black seats and a gray roof. She was not impressed at all. She said that it looks stupid. we walked away from the deal. I did some research and found that that is the only way this car comes from the factory. I got her to change her mind about buying the car but the roof will have to be ripped out and died black before she will like the car. :nonono::nonono:
I do however have a question for TG. Did you're car have a two tone interior or was it all one color.
Car looks beautiful and runs faster than i ever dreamed. I am looking at it from a different direction than the wife.
Since it is the only way this M/Y car comes than she is stuck with it and very disappointed about it. its bad she wants the car but until the roof is black she won't drive it.

Replacing the headliner and trim to black parts I think will run about $1000 :banghead:
You can't just dye the headliner black, it will have to be replaced.
I wouldn't even have it recovered, if you are serious about the change I would order one black from the factory....if they even make them black?
I think this willl get expensive quick.....and the fact of tearing the car apart to do so.

She will get used to it and I am just like you, I think it looks good the way it is. I don't think there is an option in any color interior to get the dark charcoal from the beltline up. Didn't they show you any interior pictures prior to placing the order?

The rear end is small doesn't look like it would take much H/P at all it has independent rear suspension. and duel exhaust all the way back. It has the feel of a V8 really sits you back in the seat. Its noticeably faster than the mustang V6 I drove. I am very impressed with the car but haven't been able to go over it yet since wife gets home in the dark. I dont know where the water spots came from but it sits outside and it rained last night. The Sync book is huge I can see why TG had so much fun with it. I am on page 46 still a long way to go. Lots of information to digest. Wife is overwhelmed with all the technology in the car. She is really impressed with the car overall. She realy likes the idea that she can make or get calls with a push of a button. She can even play music from her phone and leave it in her purse. I love Sync technology even if Car and Driver doesn't. Consumer reports didnt give Ford a very good grade because of Sync but who else has technology that can compare with Sync. Ford is offering new software to fix some of the issues but so far I love how it works. I just need to read the book and become one with the car.

That book is loaded and it will take you a while. I do fiind that some things on Sync is better when you use the buttons. Other things are better with voice commands. You'll figure that out as you go through the manual and use Sync more.

Adaptive cruise control is similar to conventional cruise control in that it maintains the vehicle's pre-set speed. However, unlike conventional cruise control, this new system can automatically adjust speed in order to maintain a proper distance between vehicles in the same lane. This is achieved through a radar headway sensor, digital signal processor and longitudinal controller. If the lead vehicle slows down, or if another object is detected, the system sends a signal to the engine or braking system to decelerate. Then, when the road is clear, the system will re-accelerate the vehicle back to the set speed.

I don't like that at all.
I like doing things myself.
Like locking the doors I CANNOT STAND CARS THAT LOCK THEIR OWN DOORS! :banghead:
I hate cars that always have the headlights on also.
Some of this stuff is just stupid.
I'm glad Ford cars have the option still for the doors locking, all GM cars lock when put into gear. :nonono:

Art, you also have a collision avoidance warning system. This comes with the adaptive cruise control. That is what that red light bar on the dash is for. When the car approaches a slower car rapidly, it will sound an alert through the speakers and light up that red light. I believe it also re-loads the brakes for you.

I tried it out today and the advantage is you can set the cruise and not reset it every time someone get in front of you. You still have to keep a eye on things but very nice. Takes some getting used to I hope it doesnt fail me.

Ya I have to figure out how to remove them. they are stuck in pretty good
In the first pictures you can see how dark it really was when I changed the settings you need a pod to hold the camera still shutter speed is very slow almost 2 seconds. Nikon D40 very easy to use and not so complicated. Takes a very nice photo though

I love the power . man does this car scoot for how big it is. It is a nice cruiser to I don't get to drive it much since its the wife's commute car. I love the color. It looks very nice when its washed up. I kind of wished I had gotten the Performance Package but oh well the car is still nice. I like the radio the sound is way better than what came in the Shelby. We have 8000 miles on it now. I added a bug deflector so when i wash the car next I will take a photo.
