I would check to

1. Check belt tension

2. See is compressor clutch is cycling on

If yes, check refrigerant level, if low add refrigerant.
If no, check for current at the clutch assembly,if yes, have a clutch issue, if no, check fuses and circuit breakers.

3. See a shop if these suggestions don't help.

thanks Bruce
belt tension is good
How do I check if it is cycling on? where is compressor located for sure..is it a visual thing or should I hear it..

You should be able to hear a fairly loud clunk or click when the compressor cycles on. You can cycle it by turning the ac on and off at the control switch. You might have someone cycle the switch with you listening under the hood. It shouldn't be hard to hear.

That was my thoughts too TG. I guess he needs to keep those steaks nice and cold when he transports them.

Im not too worried about repairing yet..
Went back out to car and now it works.. So I'm thinking it means an AC clutch issue or relay
:banghead:
Oh well..

May be as simple as a dirty connection or a relay.

I wonder if it would store a code for such a thing?

Oh well..Not necessarily...low refrigerant issues can be sporadic, although I think it would be rare for it to need refrigerant at this early stage. When you say it works now, did you try driving it around and see if it works? I'm wondering if it works fine at idle but not at load or highway speeds, etc...pay attention to the conditions when it does not work...may be a clue.

I don't think his engine bay is a dirty as :monkey:'s battery. :haha:

I agree, just because its working now doesn't mean an electrical issue, although it could, not enough data to make a diagnosis.

I'm thinking if it works when its cooler, but not when its hotter, it is more like a lower refrigerant level.

agree... if refrigerant pressure gets too low I beleive it will automatically disengage the compressor to prevent loss of system lubricant and compresor damage.

First thing that comes to mind is a bad or corroded ground for the compressor
