Nice!!
...sort of implys the 2013 street BOSS 302 will get the refreshed bodywork too ...previous pics all showed the 2012 sheetmetal on the '13 BOSS with only the hockey-stick stripe change implying they'd be built before the '13 phase-over. I wonder how much the '13 aero improvements helped at Daytona
Can't wait to see what the '13 BOSS will look like in street trim and with the garish accents gone.

...must be so  ...I didn't remember nuttin' :rofl3: ....what were we talking about? :haha:
...actually just before I came to this thread I was looking at the leaked Ford pics from a year ago showing the hockey-stick and new colors mocked-up on the 2012 body (the "design studio leak," as it was known), so when I came to this thread (apparently without deja vu -lol) it struck me that they aren't going to do that and really *are* going to build the '13 BOSS after the '13 cutover. Apparently I didn't realize that I had realized that before :hilarious:

Say it ain't so ...NO LIME ROCK CONTI SERIES IN SPRING 2012! :faint:
...it will now apparently be in September 28-29 (http://www.grand-am.com/schedule/index.cfm?series=r&cat_id=180):doh2: Major bummer!!
Looks like Millville bumped Lime Rock from the spring cycle, but this now makes Lime Rock, as the last race of the season, even more important in the series -- late in the season and a short track that does not favor the BOSS (with all the weight penalties and restrictor plate) ...and the weather in late Sept can be very variable too.
Gotta be some major fun at Lime Rock if the Mustangs win the series  :woohoo: :frolic: ;-)

...for sure.
It will now be the SCCA Trans Am Road Racing series (http://www.gotransam.com/2012-schedule/)that weekend which Lime Rock describes (http://tickets.limerock.com/eventperformances.asp?evt=22)as:
Lime Rock Park’s traditional season opener, the Memorial Day Race Weekend
(Friday - Sunday; no Monday this year), will once again be jam-packed with
top-rank sports car series races, featuring the newly revitalized SCCA Pro
Racing Trans-Am Series! This is Detroit's big iron going toe-to-toe with each
other while fending off the advances of Europe's best sports cars. Stick around
or come back Sunday for the third annual Royals Car Show: More than 200 of the
tri-state area’s finest muscle cars, tuners, rods and antiques sitting pretty on
the front straight, a show that benefits local charities.
Could still be a good Saturday Race

Yeah but those have turned into tube framed racers which is why the series lost the interest of the fans to begin with....:nonono:
Does NASCAR own that series too?

Not NASCAR ...it's still SCCA ...with lineage back to the original SCCA TransAm -- tho I don't know what the cars are like ...couldn't find any specifics on the Lime Rock site or on the SCCA site. They call it SCCA Pro Racing Trans Am but not clear what that implies.
I found this:
About Trans Am:
The SCCA Trans Am Series dates back to its first season in 1966. Throughout the years, some of the greatest names in motorsports have participated in the Trans Am Series. Backdating the Drivers' Championship to the inaugural season, 30 different drivers took titles, with multiple Championships being won by Paul Gentilozzi, Tommy Kendall, Mark Donohue, Scott Pruett, Wally Dallenbach Jr., George Follmer, Peter Gregg, Horst Kwech, Scott Sharp and Bob Tullius.
The iconic Tras Am Series - America's Road Racing Series - is operated by the Trans Am Race Company, LLC. Through a five-year agreement, the Trans Am Race Company manages the marketing rights to the series and is responsible for Trans Am Series public relations and promotions. SCCA Pro Racing sanctions Trans Am events and provides event operations services to the series.
They sound like stock bodied cars (with mods) ...Vettes, mustangs, Hondas ...various classes...etc Here's the regulations PDF (http://www.sccaproracing.com/files/misc/2012%20PRR%20V01.2.pdf) ...too bad it's not only pony cars.

"The ground-pounding, fire-breathing race cars that run in Trans Am may look like the cars we drive on the street every day, but make no mistake, every inch of these machines are purpose built race cars capable of hitting 190 mph. Yet, the Trans Am Series offers its competitor base one of the most affordable production-based technical platforms ever created.
The basic hardware cost to race competitively in Trans Am today ranges from $75,000 for a new TA2 car or used TA car to $250,000 for a new Trans Am race machine.
The annual operating costs for a 10-race schedule are less than $200,000 for the top division and $120,000 for TA2, and teams that spend in excess of the “target” value do not gain a performance advantage.
The major components (chassis, major engine parts, etc.) can run for years with routine maintenance. These cars are fixed with wrenches, not laptops.
The Trans Am is not a Spec series. Rules allow for enough creativity and originality to keep things interesting. Smart thinking and hard work are rewarded on the track.
Races are 100 mile sprints. There are no pit stops. It’s flat-out, heart-pounding racing from green to checkered flag, or until the car runs out of brakes, runs out of tires, runs out of fuel, runs out of driver endurance, crashes or wins." :nonono: Same as before. The GrandAm Continental series is the real Trans Am by any standards IMO.
I'm sure this series will be fun to watch but it will not have the grass roots appeal like the original "TransAM" series had and like the "GrandAM" series has today, at least not to me.

...yeah ...these are like 'NASCAR-engined' looks-like-a-production-car racers:
Engine: The Trans Am race car is powered by a 358 cubic inch, carbureted, overhead valve, naturally aspirated, V-8, engine. It costs $25,000, produces 800 horsepower, and runs over a thousand miles before it needs a rebuild.
Sort of an ironic twist that the SCCA Trans Am is now like NASCAR and the NASCAR-run Conti Challenge is like the old SCCA Trans Am :rofl3:

I think that's TG's annual budget for the Track Turd too. :spend:
