Since there is no way to tune these engines correctly yet except possibly a global timing change if they could even get into the EEC.. I would say it took guts to throw a 100 shot of nitrous at this engine without being able to make necessary changes......

Evo could only get 118mph with their 2011 5.0 at ATCO last weekend (mostly suspension changes) , JPC managed to see a 10:96 @125 mph with a 1.467 60 ft. evidently by using nitrous and suspension changes .......impressive .

So one of the following things is true:

1. The FUD over the internals being at their limit is a boatload of cr*p.

2. This engine is a one hit wonder and exploded going 25MPH on the way out of the track.

3. It was rebuilt with forged internals before hand (in which case this is a total lie.)

Which is it?

None of the above....

Justin Burcham had this car only 24 hours before running it at the track. It was long enough to install a 100 shot of nitrous to it and bolt on 28" slicks, that's about it.

IMO This engine was designed to be used Naturaly asperated, (11:1 compression) not really built to support any power adders, so in that sense yes it is not too far from it's limits.. You won't see much boost put into this engine by anyone, it simply can't take it. The computer program is state of the art with a highly technical tuning program. Not very aftermarket friendly. It will be a long time before anyone even cracks the code let alone understands how to tune it. The Tcivct is the reason for the complexity.

This engine is really suited for the open road / race track, that's where it excells. Great low and mid range torque and solid power up top.

Also curious on the gears that are used.......shifted all 5 of them before the end of the 1/4!!

oh yeah I forgot he put in 4.56 rear gears. 5th rear in the GT transmission is a 1:1 ratio standard....

Did he not have to re-tune for the gears? :gathering:

Gears should be transparent to the tune, aside from the speedo being in/accurate.

...that dude knows how to powershift too! :woohoo:
