View Full Version : What are the "must have" options for you?

It's amazing how many parts that used to be options (or aftermarket upgrades) are now standard.
That said, what would be on your "must have" list if you were getting a 2013 GT500?

Hell, I'd be happy with the standard car. But would love the SVT Package.

All or nothing.
HSURB®Even the glass roof?
When ever I buy a new car I usually get it loaded.
My choices would be:
1) Convertible
2) SVT Performance Package
3) Recaro Seats
4) Electronics Package
The track package isn't available on the vert so I can't order it and I have no need for the heated seats.

Why the electronic package?

I like that too Pat but with all the black panels on the rear of the car I think it breaks up the stripe look in the rear. That's why I think the black stripes will look best on the 13-14's. (or no stripes)

You're right George but I think that "blacked out" on the rear I'd get it painted to match..dunno what you think?

Yes I thought of that myself .....I'm quite sure some will do just that. I just didn't want to change the 13' body style since that look is unique to that model year, much like the quad exhaust is.

Yep no stripes seems to be very popular with this car probably because of that black panel on the trunk deck lid. Too bad because a Shelby is known for it's stripes.

I would have to load it up (everything but the glass roof) and go with a black stripe delete or grey with black stripes. All depends on how evil I am feeling at the time.
I have also developed a viable strategy that may allow me to pull this off (not this year) if I can deal with giving up the Darkmobile.........

A lot of people don't seem to want the glass roof. I don't like the idea of it being so "open", but from what I hear the glass roof "stiffens" up the car much more than a steel roof. That could be a good thing when building a car in a "track ready" sense. I would just dark tint it myself. That being said, I don't know if the cost is effective for the gain you get....or if it adds more weight, compared to the added stiffness benefits...
Just some thoughts.

The track might just treat the car as a convertible if it has a glass top....:shades: (about 29lbs more weight than the HT and that is "top weight")

I'd get the recaro seats.
I'd like parts of the SVT package, but not the wheels. I'd probably skip it due to the wheels.
Bright silver with black stripes. Would prefer matte black...not sure if that's offered.

This car has the SVT PP Grabber blue with Black stripes and the Glass Roof....
Makes me think twice about getting this option. I think I might like that open feel and look.

+1 ...aside from the weight, I think the glass roof is awesome! ...both from the inside and the outside ...and the weight is not such a big deal unless for a serious racer which few are.
In a straight line it might actually help with weight transfer  :chirp:

Since I have not actually seen a glass roof in a Mustang yet I have to ask is there an inside sliding cover to keep the sun from heating up the inside?

Yes there is a thin shade (thinner than the usual moon roof cover) that retracts to the rear of the roof.

Sterling Gray Metallic w/black stripes
Electronics Pack
Recaros
Glass roof
I wouldn't mind a red candy metallic stripe delete, but I haven't found a good pic of that color in natural lighting yet. Is this the same red metallic that Ford used on other cars last year?
Before I bought the '09, I test frove a '10 GT with the glass roof. The sense of openness was amazing, and I really liked it. I don't care about the extra weight, so if I do trade up I'm going to want the glass roof.
Also, I have no plans to ever track the car so the performance and track packs would be a waste for me.
