I wonder how much Subaru paid Motortrend for this?

What is Motor Trend thinking comparing a Mustang to a Subaru in the first place? Not even in the same class

Exactly!

I like this comment:

I can appreciate the BRZ’s driver’s car qualities, but it’s not worth $26k. Toyota / Subaru are robbing you blind on this car as it’s worth maybe 18k. A better competitor from the BRZ would be the Focus ST, the Focus will also smoke the BRZ on the track and give you a taste of what a true performance 4 cylinder is all about.

So let me get this right ...the mustang is larger and heavier but still faster at the track and faster around the road course and still costs 15% less (even with the trackpak as equipped it's $3,300 cheaper than the BRZ), but it's not as good because it's not as much a driver's car? :haha: I think for $3,300 that s-o-p disparity can be well compensted-for ..and then some

btw ...have you ever seen Randy Probst prefer a Ford to any other car he's ever heads-up tested? I haven't. :shades:

Well, when MT did the Mustang GT vs M3 comparison Randy did call it a win for the Mustang. The MT guy overruled him though and called it for the M3 - a win is a win, and 2/10ths is still a win for the M3.

It's such BS. The GT tied or beat the M3 in every metric (0-60, braking, 1/4 mile, skidpad, etc...) but lost by 2/10ths in the test lap, so the M3 is the winner. Here the V6 Mustang beat the BRZ by every metric they tested, but the BRZ feels better, so it wins.

I forgot about that. I think Probst is a good tester but I also think he's well aware of the intended purpose of various mag testing, etc. Like with the BRZ they artificially set the measurement stick to the best "drivers" car ...and, of course, the BRZ is lighter, with lower CG, IRS, etc so it has very responsive turn-in/handling/etc and is the 'drivers car' winner -lol.

Yeah, lots of BS for sure. Car mags do funny things for their advertisers -lol. Like the BOSS 302LS should be tested against the M3, not the GT.

Then the BOSS was recently tested against the ZL1 :doh2:

And then there was the '11GT500 vs Caddy CTS-V at the Nurburgring ...except they forgot to mention that the GT500 was pinned against the 155 limiter but that year the Caddy upped the limiter to 186(?) :doh2: ...with th elimiter offf, ever the '11 GT500 would have nailed the CTS-V ...but it permitted GM to have some wonderfull youtube vids inaccurately 'embarassing' the GT500 :doh2: ...that was just soooo planned to correspont to when the ZL1 rumors were solidifying as if to say: if the Caddy eats the GT500 on the 'Ring be sure to wait and see what the ZL1 will do to it ...garbage data in, garbage assumptions out, but that crap went viral within 24 hours and undoubtedly hurt GT500 sales.

And remember when prior GT500s were tested against the Z06 :doh2: ...not the vanilla C6 (which it would eat). They even waited well over a year after the GT500 was out never testing it aginst a C6. And then when the Z06 got the 427 they did a three-way: GT500 C6 (with track pack: gears, cooler, etc) and new Z06, against the GT500. :doh2:

So I guess the '13 GT500 will get tested against a Lambo now? :rofl3:
