I've noticed a problem for the past several weeks now (maybe there were some updates applied?)
I f I try to scroll the quick navigation pull-down (bottom right), I can no longer scroll continuously at all and if I try to index one line or one visible-pane at a time the pull-down closes immediately afterward. So can't use the pull-down to get to any topic that doesn't show in the pull-down when it first opens (which normally varies depending on what section your presently in).
Instead I have to do a search to find any section (like breaking auto news or any other) which is a PITA ...much easier to just use the pull-down and scroll to the sction I want which is what the pull-down is for.
This has worked reliably since day-1 and has not worked at all since several weeks ago so I was wondering if some V-bulletin update might have created some incompatibility. I have Vista/SP2 and most current IE all with latest updates. The change in behaviour did not correlate to any updates being applied. It worked for 2+ years straight and stopped working when I logged in after dinner a few weeks ago.
Just mentioning in case others have same problem or if it makes sense to anyone like Joker or CD or ???.

No changes have been made to the site for quite some time now. All seems fine to me. Vbulletin does make some updates from time to time but nothing major unless we download a new version, which we have not done lately.
Dan maybe you might try using another browser. I know I had to switch to google Chrome a while back because Internet Explorer didn't work right after the last upgrade.

Thanks, George...
Figured it out!
V-Bulletin apparently doesn't implement full IE9 compatibility so it doesn't work. I found the exact problem on an MS blog and they said to try putting IE9 into compatibility mode for websites that are downelvel (don't implement full IE9 feature-set) I did that and it works fine. Dunno why it started doing it all of a sudden tho.

I haven't used Internet Explorer in years.
I use Mozilla Firefox for everything w/ no issues. :look:

Not an IE9 problem. IE9 works great. But many pieces of software that use it are often slow to to be fully compatible.
Problems arise with so many different browsers are out now since developers of software find it difficult to comply with all the new browser features of so many on a timely basis.

...thanks, CD. Once I clicked compatibility mode on for this site the problem went away and have had no problems since.
IE9 must keep a compatibility table (for tagged sites) since I've logged-out/in here and rebooted Vista (after updates) over the last couple of months and it hasn't regressed again. I never figured out why it apperently regressed to begin with (I've had Vista with IE9 since IE9 first shipped) -- possibly an IE9 update in July reset the compatibility table (dunno).

There is a "Reset" for IE that will set it back to original manufacturer settings. If its reset, any cookies or cache for the compatibility for whichever site was set will be reset to no compatibility mode

Makes sense ...that has to be what happened --thanks :tiphat2:

Certainly no biggie, but I've noticed that sometime in the past couple(?) months some change occurred: when you receive a new rep points message, the "for this message" click through now always goes to the first post in the subject thread rather than to the post the rep points were given for, so you really have no idea what the rep points were given for (unless the giver happens to mention something that might give a hint). No biggie for sure but it always used to work right.

Server is currently at close to max capacity....you've been warned....Orf will back up tomorrow after he returns.
Are there any officers or directors that would care to learn the backup process to back up orf.....:giggle:
no really, we do need a back up person in the event of......any volunteers?????

How long does it typically take and what are some of the points that need to be done?

Dint know...ask Orf since he does them all.
Hey...back online.
Problem was to many back ups being stored. Need to reduce this to only 2 or 3 to save server space. Told Orf this already. Based on historical site performance, don't see the need for more than that.
KH came thru yet again....
