I posted this on TS a few days ago...
The video says "
Shelby GT500 vs Camaro ZL1 Track Test Video
Track Tested?" I did see what looked like a drag strip but I didn't see a road course or did I miss that? All I saw was a parking lot with cones....No track times, no five lap runs to measure consistency or heat soak, corner speeds, brake fade etc?
So based on Edmund's finding we're to conclude the ZL1 handles better in a parking lot doing figure eights but the Gt500 is faster out on the street?
Sorry but I'll wait until some real Track Testing" is done by real professionals not some boy in shorts and a baseball cap driving in a parking lot..

...exactly. I didn't see anything in that video to support calling it an 'on track' head to head.
The Crapy has a W/D advantage (Shelby is 57/43) and the magic computer-controlled auto-dynamic dampers really do help (the Bilsteins are awesome but they are not computer-controlled auto-dynamic) so I do expect it to best the Mustang on the skidpad but 1.03 vs .98 doesn't sound realistic ...I'd expect more like 1.03 vs 1.00. What settings were used ont eh Bilsteins? Did the Shelby have the Performance Pak with the Torsen? The Torsen will also benefit skipad numbers since the conventional limited slip clutch-pak is constantly inducing bias in the tires which reduces overall skidpad numbers. Also, in the clip they showed for the Shelby he was drifting it ...seems not the fastest line -lol.
I found out a tidbit some time ago when GM leaked those video of the CTS-V posting better times on the Nurbergring than the '10 (??) GT500 ...remember that? Seems GM didn't mention that the GT500 was pegged on the 155-limiter half-way down the long straight and would have killed the CTS-V (estimated by over two seconds!) if the Shelby's rev-limiter removed ...and that Shelby is a major cut below this one. Meanwhile the CTS-V's rev limiter was bumped to 186 just so they could get good Nurburgring 'test' times to virally leak ...typical GM.
I would not be surprised if the magazines play glowingly on the Crapmaro's magic suspension -- they have to have some bone to toss GM so they will still get advertising for the car. That system is superb and -- especially on a skidpad comuter coupled with stability-control -- it will automatically hold the car in it's steady-state g-force sweet spot. So that begs the question, what settings were they using on the Shelby's non auto-dynamic suspenson.
