I have a line on a ser of factory rims that are widened to 11"... How wide of a DR can I put on them?

Tommy Gun

What's a DR?

I have 305ZR35 18's on mine

W the FRPP Handling Pack on my car I had to grind a touch of my shock tower metal, and make sure the panhard bar is centered perfect. Under a real hard bump sometimes it rubs a touch.

I assume on the smaller rim it would be a touch taller though?

My 305's on 11 match the height of my front tires pretty close so the car doesn't look funny.

315/35/18 Toyo Proxes TQ DR's on rear. (Tires have good traction, but at 6/32's, tread wear will not be great) Weekend car for me, so the tread wear was not as important to me as the traction.

They actually handle pretty well. Better than I expected. I have not run them in the rain, but suspect they would handle just like every other DR in the rain (Not Good)

I paid $260.00 each with free shipping from TiresDirect.

A question for you sir, how do you like your MAC Mufflers? I've got headers going on with gutted cats in about two weeks. I'm afraid my Corsa 14311's are going to be too loud and raspy.

I don't drive my car in the rain if I can avoid it. The Mac mufflers I have are custom made for Alex on Team Shelby- vapor08gt500- over there. I don't know how different they are from the standard one but I do know that he has them chambered. I think they sound great, nice deep tone and not raspy at all. I don't know how they's sound with headers though...they are quite a bit louder than stock. Other nice thing about them is that there is minimal drone, but coming from Corsas it might seem like a lot to you. I will say this, I am 100 percent happy with mine and get lots of compliments.

Thanks for your input and you are correct, the Corsa's have zero drone which is really nice. Also, Corsa has some of the best looking tips of all the muffler OEM's. I wait and see how it sounds before I make a move.

Put the dr's on today, my buddy with a 2010 that is now pretty well evenly matched in mods wanted a rematch from when I beat him last year... The cars are pretty even now powerwise, he has a slower color though...

So I get one side on no problem... The second side, I go to loosen the lock and the whole key part snaps off in the lug nut... Doh...

http://www.onecrazydog.com/pictures/albums/Wheels/ruhroh.JPG

I had to grind then hammer a 3/4 socket on to get the lock off... Then I used the socket to put the lock back on for now after I changed the wheel... Tuesday I will get a regular lug nut to use until I get a new lock nut key and a spare from ford... Good thing I kept that little paper with the code on it!! What a pita though...

The traction is nice!! Something rubs on the passenger side when hitting the brakes, probably the dust cover... I will check it out in the morning...

onecrazydog

The rubbing when braking hard was the rim lips on the bumpstop brackets,

http://www.onecrazydog.com/pictures/albums/Wheels/P1040235.JPG

http://www.onecrazydog.com/pictures/albums/Wheels/P1040253.JPG

I think if my suspension was an inch lower I would have enough clearance... I might be able to just cut out that triangle area without having to remove the whole bracket and relocating the bumpstops, which is option 3...

The shock cover rubs a bit, may have to go too,

Tommy Gun
07-03-2012, 12:20 AM
I took off the worthless shock boots and ground a little of that bracket to make it work.

Under extreme bumps it still touches sometimes.

You may have to re-center your panhard bar to get less rub per side also.

As far as the lock key, I hope you never have used an impact w/ it?

That will kill them quick.

I usually don't have my locks on anyhow, unless I think I'm leaving my car somewhere for a length of time.

Rear end is centered with a fays 2, rubs both sides in the same place... The boots I can cut off... Grinding the bracket would probably give enough clearance, just needs a bit... Maybe I will try that first...

I never use an impact period, always by hand, off and on!! I talked to McGard today and ordered two keys and two locks to replace the socket jammed ones... All they needed was the code that came with the original locks... Should be here in a couple weeks, in the meantime I will go to the dealership tomorrow and get two lug nuts to use...

Oh okay, "through" the rim, couldn't figure that part out.

I see you forgot to cut off the shock boots.

People have different opinions about shock boots. I learned from building trucks to leave off all those fancy colored shock boots or remove factory boots, all they do is trap in dirt and sand.

At least w/ the boot out of the way you can rinse off any dirt. I guess in some extremes they would keep dirt from getting at the seal, but IMO just keeping the vehicle reasonably clean and rinsed off there is no need for a boot/cover.

Yeah, I looked at removing the whole bracket.

Looked a little involved w the spot welds going up under the frame.

I'm wondering if there would be enough clearance grinding out the pieces you removed, then welding in a flat piece to cover the hole, then grind smooth and paint to make it look like it was originally just a flat bracket?
