Nice looking car Jim. If you go with stripes, you may want to consider either silver or gold stripes. That would look good with that color and you don't see any around like that.

Nice car Jim. Just remember that the GT has a HP limit and only get a tune from someone you can trust. I think the Gold stripes would set off the red very nice. Post a good front shot of the car post it here and someone other than me can photochop it for you.
Wet sanding sounds like a lot of work. Maybe you can take it to a professional detailer and they could do some paint correction on it. i did that myself and it took me about 40 hours from start to finish. Car looks great. What took the longest time was taping off the stripes. Cleanup was easier than wet sanding to no mess in the door jams.

You tell 'em, Jim!!
IMO, the best thing about owning a Mustang (whether it's a plain V6 or a top-of-the-line GT500) is that we get to make it the car WE want. There are so many mods to personalize the car to our own tastes that no two cars are the same.

Chrome wheels, to me, are to "Bling Bling"... but nice if you're in certain parts of town. :pimp:

07-10-2012, 06:25 PM
Just saw this thread...nice car! I like the gold stripe idea too. As for wheels, I'd say develop a "theme" and then stick with it throughout the car. Are you going to put any other exterior mods like tail light trim rings, door lock bezels, etc? If so, will they be chrome or brushed? Match the wheels to the overall theme. I prefer brushed aluminum, but you pick what you like best. Does it have body-colored mirrors? If not, may want to do that too.
RedNightmare
07-10-2012, 07:27 PM
Hi dave, Thanks, Im not going to put and door bezels or light trim on lol. I am going to paint the mirrors the same color as car and when I do the gt500 conversion, paint the rear bottom piece and splitter. I am actually going to smoke the head and tail lights black, so if I did the rims that would be the only chrome on car.

Very good mods..as for the wheels, well the ride is fine but the money for the rims is a bit much. I think there are other rims out there for less cash and look and drive just the same.
So if I were to do it all over knowing what I know now I would have done the same look just another brand of wheel and used the cash to buy other mods.

I hate this tune stuff.
Took me 3 hours! to get it straight.
Constant problems trying to update the SCT Device...hasn't been updated since 2009.
Then trying to save tune email and getting the program to find it? :banghead:
W/ so many options on the SCT site it gets confusing really quick w/ the older device. 2006 version?
I think they have 15 newer devices since I bought mine from Evolution back in 2006. :rofl3:
I hate all that stuff.
Finally Jim had me just delete everything SCT on my computer and start all over loading upgrades from SCT, then rebooting, then everything went smooth. :banghead:
Jim just needs to move closer. :look:

His screen name is HAZMAN. I haven't seen him here for a long time. He has a section here for people to post their pictures and requests and he usually has something pretty quick. Give it a try and see if he responds.

Guys/gals... the pictures are under-supportive of the magnificent finish of the car. As I stand aside the car, my reflection approximates what would be my image looking into a red mirror. The car has to be faster w/ this finish (oh yeah, I forgot... the fastest color is sterling gray metallic (unless on a '70 'Cuda (then red is fastest)). The car is awesome... Now lets talk the Red Nightmare into black rims (sorry !).
Oh... and put a Dodge emblem on the lower right front fender !

...yeah, they'd look great ...but sometimes 'stealth' attracts less attention/mischief ...all depends what you're looking to achieve.
Back in the day when I added the Shelby pieces to my '68 it attracted lots of attention ...not all good tho. I didn't do any GT500 badging either ...just rear lights/spoiler and front fogs (didn't do the hood either) ...just enough to confuse -lol- ...and look real nice. Sort of what you're doing! On the '68 I really liked the look fo the rear but the front was too 'long' for me (I know ...sacrilege -lol) so I just did the fogs up front. Whatever makes you feel good about the car are probably the right mods ;-)

In Ca. we cant have any red lights on the front of our cars whether there is a switch or not. Would look cool at the track like Grave Digger. You're car is going to look nice. There is a guy I know that put the GT500 front on his car and it looks sweet. His car is Legend Lime so you know right away its not real but it does look nice.
