I think the club cab is aesthetically a bit nicer, but the club cab doors on trucks always seem to rattle after time because of no solid post... There is a new 2012 loaded race red crew cab at the dealership, if I wanted a club cab I would have to order a 2013 and wait for it... That is if I even get one at all... Have to see where the numbers are...

Technically not called a "Club Cab" its a Supercab. Its also the body style I have so I maybe be able to answer some of your questions

+1 These trucks are big as it is. I would go with the Supercab unless you are going to be hauling people (crew cab) along with cargo.

I like the look of the super cab but with the family I really need the crew which is what I ordered. I like the 36 gallon gas tank too on the screw. The ride is great and it will handle anything I am going to throw at it. I was going hardcore off road I would go scab buy I will never beat it that hard. Some trails and farm Lang maybe but nothing major that would make me need the scab.

Is the crew cab longer than the super, or does it have a smaller box?

People of my wife's stature can ride in the back of the scab (super cab) with no issue. In the screw (super crew) I can sit in the drivers seat and adjust for comfort then move to the Back and comfortably sit right behind that drivers seat. There is a lot of room in the back seat. The Bach folds up leaving a Loy of floor space too if needed.
The bed is the same on both so screw is just bigger...it is a beast that will no doubt pose some parking lot challenges at times buy a small price to pay. The one I drove was a 12 screw and was just amazing. It in no way other than sitting up a lot higher feels like a big truck.
I am considering a snugtop xtr top on thebed which has shown about a 2 mpg increase and looks as good as a shell can look but I have not decided yet as I like the look of just a bed cover....dogs will get a bedrug over the linex and a shell would be nice for them....and sometimes my wife and kids may be banished there and the dogs can ride up front :)

I would go Crew. Everyone that gets in my back seat is amazed at the comfort and room. I have the 5.5 foot bed so it is no longer. The Super Cab doors are just awkward in my opinion.

That isn't too bad, the extra foot may make it ride better on the highway... Monday I am going to take a good look at the crew cab... I did have a Dakota with the crew cab... The truck was a lemon but the full rear doors and space was handy...
I guess it boils down to perceived looks over actual function... Lol...

Thanks DS!! I shouldn't have to pay much over dealer cost!! We deal with the owner of a local Ford dealership... MSRP on my Shelby was almost 62 grand, and he sold it to me for 52!!
The only deciding factor will be what the lease payments are since the "company" will be paying them... I would just have to throw my truck in as a down payment... Company gets a write off, then pays out the balance at the end, depreciates the truck and sells it to me for a buck!!
Yesterday I saw two crew cab Raptors, and they look pretty sweet going down the road, even with 4 doors... I am almost leaning more to a crew cab now... Plus he has 5 brand new 2012 crew cabs on the lot... Even a Red one, fully loaded too, even the graphics...

Pick it up tomorrow, just got the insurance and registration on it... 2012, slow black on black, no miles, fully loaded except for the blue interior inserts!! I told them not to touch it, I will remove all the plastic, tags, and do the first wash... "Are you sure?", "Yes, Do not let the lot lizards touch it", "Ok"... Lol!! The front bumper had a ding from transport, so they swapped it with one from another Raptor... I said that is ok!!
Going to put the factory stereo back in my truck tonight, and pull out the edge tuner... I will leave the cai on it, I can probably get more money for the factory intake... They gave me 8 grand in trade for my truck, I could have probably got 9 or 10 selling it myself but then I would have to deal with people coming to my house and lowballing me... Then they get all insulted when you tell them to get off the property...
WOOT!!
Will be sad to see my old truck go, she has been very good to me!! Never left me stranded anywhere for 7 years!!
In the showroom, the day I picked it up!!

I have seen pics of a Raptor wrapped in flat black. It looked very good, you should do it.
I wouldn't bother with the 9500Ci in the truck. The laser jammers in the system are not very good and the radar detection is on par with a Valentine V1, but the V1 is waaay easier to install.

...and the arrows simply work so darn well ...I've logged a lot of seat time in my buddy's Cobra and the V1 just works superbly (two separate antennas too). Also Valentine's micro-code updates permit the design to remain current for a very long time (except for some of the earliest units which can't be unpdated).
---
That said, it's the instant-on laser that can nail you no matter what detector you have. Likely that's where a jammer can make a real difference, but if you're the only car around doing 100 on a two lane, it won't matter, jammer or not ...it's ticket time (tho you may beat it). And if you're in traffic and everyone is doing 90, the odds of you being singled out are nil, unless jumping/weaving, etc ...not a good idea anyway.
I guess I'm on the same page as DS, fwiw, tho the jammer is very cool.

The jammer in the 9500ci is for laser not radar. Radar jamming is a felony.

A pretty install is nice but I would go with the better performer. The built in unit is nice, but the install isn't simple with the stock grill. Its one reason I went with the custom grill.
The V1 can be hard wired and mounted to the rearview mirror stem. No suction cups to worry about and the cord is not in the way.

Hmmm, I see why you control the bucket... I'm not going to win this am I? Why do you like the V1 so much? I have always had Bell and Escorts... Portable is cheaper, no doubt there... I already have a passport 9500ix... Could just get 2 quad jammer systems... Do you have the jammers on the Raptor too? Sounds like one would have to find out the best mounting points, right?

Just trying to give you the benefit of my experience. Its not about anything but getting you what you need and not having you spend any more than you have to.
I have previously had Bells and Escorts too, but I spent a lot of time on the Radar Detector and Laser Jammer forum and the majority there feel the V1 is the superior product.
I have no sustems installed on the Rpator as I don't go too fast in it and it is a HUGE vehicle. A radar detector would probably be enough. Laser jammers aren't too prevalent and I don't feel the expense is worth it for the truck.
The V1 and 9500Ci systems are complementary as the 9500Ci is a little better in some radar frequencies than the V1 and the V1 is better in others. With both you pretty much have the best for all radar used law enforcement. I don't think you can run two portables without their interfering with each other.
I would keep the 9500ix and just get a laser jammer system IF laser is being used in your area. No use getting it if its not being used. Currently laser is not being used from a moving vehicle so the rear doesn't have to have coverage at the moment. I had my rear jammers installed so I can be ready when the time comes.
I you are set on getting laser jammer systems for both vehicles, I would get a HP dual for each vehicle and mount them up front. Talk to there tech support folks about mounting points for the Raptor. You can use the same mounting points I did for the GT500.

I assume Rigid light bars, what are the little fogs on the sides? Are they a small Rigid or something else. I've been eyeballing the M&R fog light set up for mine but am leaning towards a winch plate with a couple of little lights on each side rather than the big light bar down low....undecided on the one behind the grill yet.
I've become fond of the winch on my jeep. I have yet to rescue myself or another car with it but I've pulled trees when cutting them to make sure they dont fall on my house, pulled a mailbox out of the ground, and moved a big tree that fell in a storm off the road. It's a nice thing to have...though I am convinced I won't mod much right away...after linex, tint, and rustproofing the bottom I'm done for at least 2-3 days!
clearly that truck in the pic is not a 12 so I assume just a plan there - it does look good though.

clearly that truck in the pic is not a 12 so I assume just a plan there - it does look good though.

Arggg... The guy who took my first order was a dufus... I hope he ordered the right brackets!!

Ive got mods loaded up ready to go but keep telling myself to wait and do the linex and tint and rust proofing first. I think I will put on the ford racing car back eventually and am leaning to a volant intake. I am looking to figure out a tune too but am being pretty careful with this.
I have not determined if I will do a bed cover or if I will do a camper top (snugtop xtr). I don't care for the look with a cap but it would make family travel with the dogs easier but I like the backflip roll-x a lot and retrax pro too.

ordered the weather tech mats last night. It's the first "mod" for the truck. I can justify that small investment along with the linex as more of a preservation of my truck than a true "mod".
Oh and the flaps do screw in - I think stainless screws would be provided but I can't bring myself to drill to put them on...it seems like you would be exposing more potential issues than solving if you don't take the time to rust proof etc (which could just be a spray before screwing in but I am just afraid of it).

Drill hole, little dab of touch up paint, and goodto go... you could even use some sillycone on the screw threads...
I figured out traction control I think... One push and it is in some sport mode, but if you push and hold the button it says advance trac off... So that must mean no TC at all? I can also lock the rear diff or both if in 4x4 mode... What is a locking diff good for?
I might have to break out the manual, I want to figure out how the homelink thing works for the garage door...

Got the dealer mess all cleaned up and will have it to my retailer this week for a real clean and seal job. I hope to get into linex for the rust proofing and bed liner soon too. That factory bed liner is crap.
You're right... Kind of warped already and also super slippery when wet, frozen would be worse... So I pulled it out and will sell it... Eventually I will get the spray in liner done...

It takes so little time to get the liner sprayed in, do it BEFORE winter hits. You will thank yourself the first time you have to get in the bed during the winter you have decent footing instead of slipping around.
Its a safety thing with your winters if you ever have to get back there.

Its amazing they still even use those plastic linings.
You can get a factory sprayed in liner from Nissan, why not Ford? :nonono:
I used Herculiner on my last two F150's. Cost about $100 and about 4 hours to do. Super happy w it.
LineX around here is around $550-$600, may be worth your time just to have them do it.
Iceman
10-28-2012, 12:38 PM
Ford does have that option now, they also still have the plastic option for what ever reason. My dealer now offers bedrug too which I looked but I need the linex protection here for winters. I may do a bed rug mat though too after I decide on a cover for the back. Not sure what I want yet on the back.
I think that backflip looks awesome. It is my favorite based on looks but I am not sure it will fit my needs. I my go that way too but the snugtop xtr camper top would really solve some issues too.
Tommy Gun
10-28-2012, 01:24 PM

we keep a 4 by 8 rubber mat in the truck bed that helps keep things from moving around or getting marked up from the bed liner.
