Thinking of going with Kooks or other private lable headers made by kooks. Not sure of what size to get and also if it will reduce my ground clearance?
Then there is the cat question if I should go cat-less or hi flow cats?
Thanks

lol Nice!
Ok now what if I wanted to add electric cutouts? That would require going cat-less too correct?

If you go catless your car is going to be loud and attract a lot more attention from the cops. At least with hi-flow cats when you're not on the throttle it's a lot less loud. A lot of guys up here in NorCal have gotten pulled over because their cars were so loud without cats and then ended up putting them back on. You know how it is here in CA!

Iceman has cutouts so he may be able to help you on other considerations. If no cats, then it's easier to locate the cutouts further forward if desired.

Hmm good point. I have hiflow cats now and its about as loud as I think I can go. I drive like a granny when I see cops and they look but dont pull over.
So the cutouts go behind the cats? I would run a 2.5" x-pipe and piping after teh cutouts I assume?

Yep, I know some guys with cats and cutouts. All LT's are illegal in CA, that is if you're caught. I'm running American Racing LT's with high flow cats and X-pipe. The car is quiet until I hit the throttle. Then it sounds like no cats. A pretty good performance boost and everyone likes the sound when I hit the throttle.

American Racing was what I was looking at originally but I came into a deal where Im getting hooked up so some Kooks or other privately labeled Kooks made LTs before SEMA.
Well I have hiflow cats which are already illegal in socal so might as well jump in with booth feet as the big toe test proves the water is warm lol

I have ar headers and run an off road x pipe. The cut outs are welded onto the x pipe so depending on where you put them it could work. For sound you want them up in front of the cats if possible but I am not sure if there are sensors you need to keep in front of the cats turned on in the tune? The ones I got are a tougher install with welding but the low profile DMV cut outs don't lower ground clearance and have been years of no issues for me, that said the Y type that slip in would be a lot easier to remove if needed. No emissions in Indy is good for me

Thanks Iceman. I think the Y type are ok as I see them everywhere. Install location would be the big question.
If they are installed after the hiflow cats then the should will be quietier then infront of hte cats I assume?
do you have a picture of your setup?

The ringing in my ears that persists from Shelbyfest 2011 will confirm that his sounds sweet with the cutouts open.

Ok so installing the Y cutouts behind the highflow cats will still sound loud and good.
Whereever they need to install them should sound sweet then :)
