What an amazing pitcher!! RIP.
Did some searches and his cause of death is listed as "Lewy body dementia* and COVID-19"
* Lewy body dementia (which I had never heard of) is a progressive dementia that results from protein deposits in nerve cells of brain. Average lifespan of newly diagnosed individuals is 5-7 years but some have lived as long as 20 years.

Interesting! Lyme, untreated, can be very serious and deadly.
A good friend's son in his 30s had Lyme but didn't know it. When he started getting nerve-related issues (mostly his feet going numb and severe pain) he went to his doc and then a neurologist who told him, after several tests, it was Lyme. The disease itself has been knocked out but the nerve damage is permanent and the pain is being treated with some heavy drugs.
I had Lyme about 10 years ago and didn't know it either but went to doc immediately upon initial visual symptoms from a tick bite and did the 21-day Doxycycline (vs the 1-day super-dose I've done several times after subsequent tick bits). So far I've had no issues but it is possible they can turn up years later -- sure hope not.

I don't think McConnell will do that -- can't risk it being seen as disrespectful esp since McConnell is one of the Senators the dems are spending a small fortune to unseat and his rival, Amy McGrath, is neck and neck with him in the polls.
Also, why give the dems another platform before the election to lie and invent another scandal. :rofl3:

Sure, he could wait to take the heat off but unless they publicly declare that they won't fill the seat until the next president takes office (whoever that is) then the dems know full well that the time between November and January is plenty of time to get a replacement through the senate even if they don't say that is what they're going to do (because we know that's what Trump will probably do anyway). So not waiting is a negative for both Trump and McConnel, but filling the seat with a conservative is more important to me than either one of their jobs since there is a close to 50-50 chance one or the other or both won't be back. Another way of saying it: If Trump doesn't say wait until January, there is no difference between now and between November-January because they dems will treat them the same.

The dems have always been dumber than a rock. Obama wanted to increase the number of justices to 13 and he would have been able to appoint all of them. Then it was pointed out that the next time the republicans owned both houses and president they could make it 21 and the SC conservative again. I can only imagine her and Scalia -- best friends though politically diametrically opposed -- making their cases to one another on such things.
Unlike Kagan and Sotomayor who are largely political creatures -- who both seem to believe SCOTUS CAN AND SHOULD redefine the meaning of the Constitution's words to fit current issues (rather than guide current issues with consistent rulings) -- Ginsburg was typically genuine in the logic of her SCOTUS opinions (even though I thoroughly disagree with virtually ALL of them as did Scalia). She was intellectually honest as opposed to intellectually disingenuous as Kagan and Sotomayor's opinions often seem to be. Jmho.

I think the conservatives praising her are praising her life achievements not her constitutional opinions.
She was born at the tail end of the Great Depression — only a dozen or so years after ratification of the 19th Amendment (women’s right to vote) yet by hard work and persistence managed to advance herself and rise to what is arguably the most prestigious position in the legal profession — a profession where she probably could have made 10X her SCOTUS salary. (Personally I wish she had!)
One reason I may appreciate her accomplishmentS is that my mom (born in 1912! ...yeah she had me in her later 30s ...after the war) who started working as a teen (several years before RBG was born) and managed in just 10 years to rise from a young gal in the New York Life (insurance) stenography pool to the personal secretary to the president of the company — a position she loved but gave up to give birth to my older brother. I still have her sten book! ;-). Sort of glad she did else I would not likely be here - lol.
The point is times were different back then and women who achieved success were typically smart, persistent and very hard working.

She was the first woman to enter Harvard. In 1956, Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a first-year student at Harvard Law School. When her husband Martin, a second-year student, is diagnosed with testicular cancer, she attends both her classes and his, taking notes and transcribing lectures while caring for Martin and their infant daughter Jane. She lead the charge against discrimination based on gender. There are more things that should be considered in addition.

I agree on that one.
I also liked him in a little flick called "The Name Of The Rose", based on a book by Umberto Eco. The book was lengthy and a murder mystery set in a medevial church. The book was rich with characters (note 1), and the movie was way too short, but Connery made it worth it.
Note 1: I've said before about reading more since I retired and decades ago I read The Pillars Of The Earth by Ken Follett. He had a total of three in what is the Kingsbridge Trilogy. The story is also of a village and the evolution of the village/town/city around a cathedral. Well, he just came out with the 4th - a prequel titled "The Evening and the Morning". All of them are daunting - hovering at about 1000 pages they're like a Michener story - but well worth it.

Maybe he was going to run against Hillary :giggle:
But you have to wonder what really happened. He was known to have various drug addictions but I think Psychology Today ARTICLE (https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/addiction-in-society/201810/what-killed-anthony-bourdain) may be onto something. He was head-over-heels in love with Asia Argentino who may have dumped him for a French dude just days before he was found hung in his hotel room. Who knows, but very plausible.

He was a character, to say the least but one of the most influential people in the music business back then (or ever!). The Motown Wall of Sound! James Jameson was his fave bass player. He never got credit on the zillions of Specter-produced Motown recordings but Jameson was actually playing bass regardless of who the bass player was for the group when they walked into the studio :rofl3: Specter ruled with an iron fist -- his way or the highway and his way was invariably successful.
His wife in the late 60s thru maybe mid '70s was Ronnie Specter -- of The Ronettes fame.
I assume he died in prison ...I think he was convicted of murder and been in prison since early 2000s as far as I know.

Nice to see Fox dedicating their airtime so far today to him. So many call-ins from Donald Trump and Mike Pence to Larry Kudlow and Mark Levin.
---
Btw, Larry Kudlow now has a regular show on Fox Business. Haven't seen it yet but I really like Larry!
Unfortunately Lou Dobbs (who I also like and whose slot Larry now has) was fired by Fox -- almost certainly for refusing to back off on the the election fraud we all know occurred.
Tip of the hat to Lou for refusing to deny reality!
Lou Dobbs, Maria Bartiromo and Jeanine Piro are now suing Fox (according to the Washington Times) for curtailing or cancelling their shows over their coverage of the election fraud. Dobbs was fired, Piro was suspended for a couple weeks and Bartiromo got a time-out, as I recall.
In NY you cannot sue your employer while still working for them, so no prob for Dobbs but don't understand the others since they are both NY-based employees as far as I know.
We shall see -- potentially important 1st Amendment freedom-of-speech carve-out vis-a-vis reporting/opining under contract.

Fry's
https://www.kron4.com/news/national/frys-electronics-permanently-closes-nationwide/
The best toy store anywhere. I was on a business trip to the Bay Are once and this guy had to go to a store. It was the original Fry's. It started as an electronics hobby place so it had components like resistors in bins. They also had Tektronics and LeCroy Oscilloscopes! The real ones that at the time were close to 100K and far over that now.
They have a store here in Vegas that we go to but have to say haven't been to for over a year. That's probably why they're closing.
Their web site:
http://www.frys.com/Company%20Logo.png
After nearly 36 years in business as the one-stop-shop and online resource for high-tech professionals across nine states and 31 stores, Fry’s Electronics, Inc. (“Fry’s” or “Company”), has made the difficult decision to shut down its operations and close its business permanently as a result of changes in the retail industry and the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Company will implement the shut down through an orderly wind down process that it believes will be in the best interests of the Company, its creditors, and other stakeholders.
The Company ceased regular operations and began the wind-down process on February 24, 2021. It is hoped that undertaking the wind-down through this orderly process will reduce costs, avoid additional liabilities, minimize the impact on our customers, vendors, landlords and associates, and maximize the value of the Company’s assets for its creditors and other stakeholders.
The Company is in the process of reaching out to its customers with repairs and consignment vendors to help them understand what this will mean for them and the proposed next steps.
If you have questions, please contact us using the following email addresses:
For customers who have equipment currently being repaired, please email
[email protected], to arrange for return of your equipment.
For customers with items needing repair under a Performance Service Contract, please call (800) 811-1745.
For consignment vendors needing to pick up their consignment inventory at Fry’s locations, please email
[email protected].
Please understand if we are a bit slow to respond given the large volume of questions. The Company appreciates your patience and support through this process.
Sincerely,
Fry’s Electronics

No, he wasn't a King... Britain has a King or a Queen, never both, it's all about bloodlines and first born... He never would have been King, next in line for the Throne is Charles, then William... The Queen's (Windsor) bloodline goes back a long way... Royals used to marry in the family until the inbreeding got out of hand...
He was just a glorified sperm donor...
