My 09 Shelby has a factory NAV unit. There is an Aux input jack in the center console you can run your ipod through. Is there a way to hook up a USB port through that AUX input jack? A lot of my music is stored on flash drives and I would like to have a USP port in the Shelby so I can listen to it.

Not an expert, but unless your flash drive has the ability to play the songs, I doubt it.

Get an iPod nano, for about 60 bucks, and transfer your music to it. Easy peasy...

I have a 2012 Jeep Cherokee and it has a USB drive built in to the NAV unit. I just plug in my flash drive and I can access and play all my music. I was trying to accomplish the same thing on my Shelby.

The input on your Ford stereo is just that direct INPUT only. You have to have something that reads and plays the music. The stock Ford system in your Shelby has no means of reading and playing the info on the flash drive (unless you burn it to a cd). Your options are as Orf said to buy a media player and hook it up via the input or buy an aftermarket stereo capable of reading and playing music files.

OK, Now I understand.
I guess its time to transfer all my music to an iPod.

I bought a hard wired unit that wires directly into the back of my shaker 1000 and connects to my I phone .. The radio itself reads off of my I phone including displaying songs etc .. As well it allows apps (I heart radio etc) to play through it as well ..it does have options that I can purchase (plugs etc) for other devices .. Just never bought any

I have the same thing with the '09 Fusion ...aux input but no USB, so I bought a Sansa Fuze+ (or you could use an iPod like Orf suggested).

If we had Sync we'd have at least one USB (usually console and dash). What's really nice about the Sync approach is that it assimmilates the songs locally so they're subsequently accessible via voice commands, etc, so you don't have to fumble with a separate device while driving -- that's the only thing I don't like about using the aux input. What I really DO like about a separate device is I also use it when I take a walk or work in the basement or garage, etc.

Btw, you'll want to ditch the factory earbuds. There are plenty available from $5-$300+ but you can't go wrong with the Phillips 6000/28 (black) i (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003BT6BL4)n-ear open-air earphones (6001/28 white/gray to match iPod). They outperform many pricier units and are light years better than any factory ear-buds (Apple, Sansa, etc). Here's a review that might be of interest (http://www.amazon.com/review/R3NTZR9MJGQLDM/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B003BT6BL4&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=) if you'll be using your player out of the car as well.

What's really nice with SYNC is you don't need any cables................Bluetooth. Pair my iphone with SYNC and I can control the music on the device from SYNC.

Cool!! That's even better than letting Sync upload the music.

Eventually there will be Sync in my life ;-) ...it was an available option on the '09 Fusion but the early implementation wasn't so great.

Got a service bulletin on Beth's Explorer for the MyTouch...................there's an update to download........................and we get a new map SD card free (better than the $199 discs for prior generations of their NAV.

I read somewhere recently that this download also tweaks useability too ...quickens-up responses. etc. ...sounds worthwhile. Such a deal too ;-)

If your radio will play MP3 files you can put your music on a data CD as MP3 files and get way more music than burning a music CD. Our 2010 F250 has Sync and a USB port but when we took a trip to San Antonio a couple of years ago I filled a CD with MP3 files and we listened to one CD for about 12 hours.

That works well (up to 600MB or so) ...and almost all Fords with premium 6CD players (going back to at least 2001) and virtually all more recent 6 and 1 CD players support MP3s. Especially simple if you have a playlist and just want to listen in order.

It would seem to me that DFW is more or less in between Warrensburg and San Antonio. Just saying.

Sync is starting to make me mad. I tell it to exit then it asks me if i want to exit Isint that what I just said. I don't know who figured out the commands for this thing but it sure needs some serious work to make me happy. I had to pull over to play Bluetooth on my phone to play music. Why cant I just say play Bluetooth audio? Time for ford to listen to the customer and fix this once and for all.

Yeah we had a truck full of boxes and other things to bring to our son after he moved to CA. We met family from CA, AZ and MO in San Antonio for Thankgiving and this was cheaper than flying. We also had 3 drivers taking turns.
