Anyone know what would take an automatic transmission forever to shift under load?
Like revving up passed it's normal points between shifts?
Not slipping, just revving up much higher between shifts?
Thinking simply changing the fluid might help, but fluid only has 30,000 miles on it in this vehicle.

Low fluid?
Overheated fluid?

I checked the level.
Not overheated that I can tell.
...I've read where it could even be a dirty MAF sensor letting the engine over rev?

Whatr year car? There was a vacume valve on the side ot the trans that controlled shifts. I cant remember the correct name but I think it's a modular valve. Dan would know.

Newer electronic transmission.

Under a load, more throttle is required. The throttle position switch and perhaps a vacuum sensor will tell the computer to hold the the transmission in lower gears longer because more torque is needed at the rear wheels under load. It could be a normal operation, but I sense this is something that has changed on your vehicle overtime. Perhaps you are towing a heavier load or steeper grades than before, only you would know. You could have a dragging truck or trailer brake or even extremely low tire pressure.
It could be normal, or you have another issue requiring proper diagonsitics to check. Also if you have newer Ford truck with a tow switch, its program would hold it in gear longer.
Bottom line, if you think you are having a problem, I would get it to a qualified technican ASAP. You can ruin a auto trans pretty quickly.
Umm......you're not hauling Sharun around are you?

No Sharun.
im thinking it has something to do w the throttle body.
i cleaned it today, but may have to remove to do a better job.
it feels like it helped, but not completely?
