Well, lets start with this SEMA spy shot link:

Definately a RAPTOR mule of some sort, but of what ...and what engine:

---

Well, here's a rendition of the 2015 F150 with rumored aluminum body:

If that's the donor for a new Raptor then...

This possibly rendition of the 2015 RAPTOR might be right-on

Remember, in those early tests before the current F150 was intro'd ...Ford invited the press out to the proving grounds where they showed the 6.2, 3.5EB and 5.0 all pulling loads and running an approx 1/8th mile. The 5.0 was clearly the quickest in the 1/8th, followed by the 6.2 and the 3.5EB, tho the later two could tow higher payloads.

Could the dual rear-exhaust RAPTOR mule be a 5.0? That would be very cool!! That would then cover all three engines: 3.5EB TRMOR 'sport truck' -- 6.2 trandtional RAPTOR -- and maybe a 5.0 RAPTOR LIGHT? .

..ok, how about a RAPTOR LIGHT[ning -lol]?

In any event, nice to see the RAPTOR getting updates and moving forward!

I cant decide if I like the dual exhaust out the rear or not. If they integrated it to fit the bumper like Dodge did that may help some. Stainless Works has a set up like that and I like the sound but am still struggling with the look and functionality of it back there (Though I would never likely test those limits in mine).

I really like the Raptor....I would how ever LOVE to see a Bronco version using the shorter wheelbase but keeping the cab from the Screw and just having that smaller back area for crap and dogs inside the truck. I would likely be in line to trade my Raptor for this as the SUV fits my lifestyle better than a pick up does 90% of the time. I am still wrestling with a Cap potentially going on my truck to solve that issue but a Bronco would be SWEET!

A Raptor Bronco would be awesome!!

Yeah, I have mixed feeling on the exhaust out the back too. In the bumper would be good since I wouldn't want the exhaust to limit exit angle -- even if I only used it occasionally in serious offroading. My old '78 4x4 mod'd Van only had about 15" rear overhang and the exhaust out the side and it still limited exit angle, tho all you got was bumper full of dirt -lol- vs exhaust destruction. The van had an incredible entry angle so exit was always on your mind (i.e. on retracing your offroad route, if necessary). A Raptor SUV with short overhangs -- and maybe a short WB version too since they can't jack up a production vehicle too high so WB becomes a clearance issue too -- would be a winner, I think!!

Ideally, you would want to eliminate the overhangs altogether. Or make the approach and departure angles at least 50 degrees.

Hmmmmmmm............wonder what that would look like?

I sold my 2013 raptor and was quite please with how well it held the value. I got a bit over 45K for it with a bit over 46K miles. It was in great shape and I had just put on KO2's all the way around but still a good price to me. I am still looking at the new raptors and went to see it at the auto show (not really a fan of the avalanche color). I saw a blue one like I had at the dealer nicely optioned too but I think i am looking at the more expensive red one or potentially black but I am struggling with the price tag increase and the only way to get the few options I want is to buy the giant package for 10K more. Not sure how I feel about the dual pane sun roof either. I think as rarely as I used the one I had I'd opt for the no sunroof option but if they went back to the smaller one I would likely get it again.

I am happy to report the exhaust looks good and the truck as a whole looks great. I still want the bronco version and with that on the horizon (hopefully a raptor package at least) it will be hard to buy a 70K pick up truck for me even as great as this is. I kept my crappy jeep which my son will drive in a little over 3 yrs as his first car. The GT500 is going to get some more action this summer than it did last year I hope too. I am not telling what my daily driver is right now....lets just say nobody except allow dave (and that's a maybe) would approve as it is very practical and sadly I have to admit well made and I like it. It is not how ever a looker.

Iceman!! :faint:

Good to hear from you! Hope family are all good...

The '18 Raptor gets the new gen-2 3.5EB (first vehicle to get it after the Ford GT) and will also have the revised 5.0 Coyote available. Both have new 10-spd paddle-shift trans available, etc.

In my older age I am getting more frugal (or unrealistic) on these things. I want all the new frame and suspension but also would like upgraded interior and a lower price tag :) I struggle with the price point these things are at right now and the amount of plastic that seems a little cheap in some places. I know what the truck is made for etc....the reality is I'll probably never buy another raptor pick up as I am really holding my breath for the bronco and hoping for a raptor version of that...Or one of these flying cars with the new space fuel!

Yes - And there are so many rumors and "fake news" items out there on the Bronco it's really a wait and see for me. There is an old 77 bronco for sale that I'd love to get a hold of but the cost/timing/location is not right....It's like 48K, sitting in MI and only has the sun top over the front seats....If I was in FL or AZ and it was only half that much then maybe....I really like the 77 year after some mods are done though. Those old bronco's don't look too great in regular stock form but with some work they are pretty cool but I still have the crappy Jeep hanging around so I can't justify it....Maybe in 2020 (or 2019 for MY 2020) they will be here and look good....and not priced at 70-80K.....I feel lucky to have 4 paid for cars even if they are not the 4 I would like. The cost of these things is getting crazy to me.

Well I almost bit the bullet and bought a 2018 raptor. I was using the Joe G justification of "needing" a truck. They got one in a few miles from me that was so close to exactly what I have built it was like I ordered it except they had the sunroof in it and I did not. After seeing it though i think I would put the sunroof in (I just was not sure about that big dual panel thing). In the end I went to see it more or less with cash in hand for the MSRP price (70k give or take a few hundred after the stupid doc fee etc). I told them I liked it and would pay MSRP for it. The manager said it was 15K over MSRP and I said "OK, good luck selling it and thanks for letting me see it first". By the time I was in my car to leave with Kyle he was at 10K over. I told him I would pay MSRP and not a penny more on principal but I did believe he would sell it for more, just not to me. That night an e-mail arrived and they informed me they could let it got for 5k over MSRP. I thanked him again but told him I was not interested in anything over MSRP. It has since sold. I assume for 5-10K over but never asked. They treated me very well but I must admit I've never been turned down trying to give my money away like that before. It's a funny feeling in that i am glad I saved the $ but I wanted the truck. In the end I am better off with the $ but hate being told I can't have what I want....I suspect from their side it was similar. How often does a person come in the day they gat a car on the lot (not sold) with a check in hand from the back for the MSRP and they say No???

Now I am over it and while I still like the truck I am back to thinking that's just too much for me to spend on the thing....Time will tell how long I can last. I have to say playing with the controls in the 2018 was impressive. There are a lot of things to learn but pretty much anything is easy to do once you learn how to do it.

Oh - I did call my regular dealer and was told they too are going to sell their raptors over MSRP. I guess if they can get it why not but I'm not doing it. I now found out a friend of a friend bought a dealership in WV so I can drive a few extra hours and get one probably 3500-5K under MSRP now if I really must but I am not pulling that card as I think the $ is better for me right now.

That sucks.

Fwiw, not aware of Raptor having plant constraints or dealer qualifications/limits so maybe they're just playing an early availability ADM game ...hard to imagine there would still be ADMs later in the cycle ...it's not like ordering a GT350 w/ production limits and dealer constraints.

Yeah, amazed how many seem to be holding on to the ADM game for Raptors. Every dealer that had one when I was looking at my plain-jane F150XL had at least a $5k ADM tacked on - some as high as $15K.

I thought same as Dan - no production constraint, so why not sell as many as you could at MSRP?
