That stuff is cool...

Wonder if Farmdog could make some carbon fiber stripes!!

I have some coming for some plastic parts.

It needs a primer for plastic parts, but looks like it will work real well.

Only good for about 4 years in sunlight, but I don't think that will be an issue for now.

Are you installing it yourself?

For fun or part of the business?

With no Mega Garage, almost everything is always out in the sun. :nonono:

Down here it would last a week then.

Doing it it myself to see how it works.

May incorporate it for specific items in my business.

They have some solid colors too that should work real good for some things I work on.

In the desert I would definitely only use it on interior parts.

That 3M Di-Noc vinyl faux CF is some really nice looking stuff! I've been doing a lot of resto work on vintage equipment using tolex vinyl but that Di-Noc seems to tolerate heat much better than tolex and also stretches better (probably because it's thinner too). I could see a modern amp done in CF (no one is doing that) however some of the comments on Amazon indicate it scratches quite easily (tolex doesn't scratch too easily). Still very cool stuff ...I can't use it on vintage equipment (it would trash the value) but I might have to try some on a little effects box for a circuit I started designing many years ago and want to finish and eventually put in a small foot-pedal 'box' ...after I finish refurbing a bunch of other items -lol.

Wow! Look at all the CF stuff available for the CanAm Spyder (http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=carbon+fiber+spyder&FORM=HDRSC2)! ...The Di-Noc stuff is much cheaper ...but doesn't lighten things up either.

Probably a good market for CD to get into -- may be not. :giggle:

Neat stuff....maybe I'll do the cobra dash.....

I assume it's just as easy to remove and doesn't mar the paint job

GT500 CF stripes......woohoo.....where's farmdog.....

It does say that it can leave a residue on painted surfaces, or marring. On plastics you need 3M 94 prep spray which is an adhesion promotor that can affect the plastic surface.

Im using on some small parts first to see how it does before I mess w a more expensive part.

Most of what I plan to cover can just be recovered if it doesn't look right or if I had to redo it in a few years.

There were questions about clear coating w a UV stable clear, but 3M says its a little bit of an involved process and doesn't recommend it though they say it is possible.

Tried a piece today, pain in the butt!

unfortunately my first trial piece has a ton of edges and curves, etc.

I think on something flatter it would work awesome, more complex pieces will definitely take some learning and some patience.

I used the plastic primer at first, but as soon as the piece touches it it can't be repositioned, so after tearing it off, cleaning off the primer the next piece went much better.

:wtg: ...you'll probably have it down to a science once you do a few pieces, Bill.

Cool., weird tho, watching the vids, those guys were pulling it up and reapplying like it was nothing...kept using the spray bottles
