Oh, so Mulally faked 'em all out by coming to NY to be on FOX and unveil on the streets of NYC along with unveils in Los Angeles, Shanghai, Sydney, Barcelona and its hometown of Dearborn. Nice touch him coming to NY where the '65 was unveiled April 17. 1964.

(video might take a while to load ...been like that most of today!

...of course if you go to MSN (http://editorial.autos.msn.com/blogs/post--its-official-2015-ford-mustang-info-and-photos?icid=autos_5051&ocid=ansauto11) they're totally clueless (but have some pics): "The biggest performance gain won't be the engines or transmissions, but the independent rear suspension that finally -- for the first time in nearly 50 years -- will replace the solid axle for much improved handling"

Some nice pics on Fox too (you can scroll a few up top) and an interview with Percicak (sp?)

...no prices or detailed features yet but it's clear you can have it any way you want it with all the latest technology from paddle shifters to stuff they won't aanounce until later :shades:

I have to say the unveil pics look better than some of the other stuff I have seen. The overall design does still say I'm a Mustang, I see alot of styling cues from the current design. While I would have preferred it to stay a little more retro, I guess Ford had to do something to keep to attract more global sales. I did have to laugh a little about the independent rear axle, it's not new to Mustang having the 2000-04 SVT Cobras (might be earlier too and I don't want to look it up) I noticed from the top few is the body appears to narrow towards the rear which should help with smoothing of the drag area air, might be worth a mile per gallon (or not) and maybe a tensy more speed. The wheel choices are cool, I still like shiny.

The 5.0 should be a potent package or some new variant coming along soon. I bet they try to sell the base engines on release, making the V-8 available a months after. Gotta help those CAFE numbers.

Yeah, pretty spiffy design ...almost a fastback roofline ...there are rumors of fastback too but dunno.

...yep. 1999-2004 were all IRS. 2001 was the highest HP (325HP -lol remember when that used to be a lot!) NA engine and and all-alloy powertrain ...nice handling Cobra! I think they essentially skipped the 2000 Cobra becuase the pressurized-sand intake runner polishing used on the 1999 had some issues and caused many units to ship about 5-6HP short of the advertised rating (305HP?), so Ford made very few 2000s (mostly corrected-intake 1999s, I think).

...the 5.0 GT should be available at launch along with 3.5NA and 2.3EB, but the 5.2 'voodoo' will be later sometime. I'm not buying the rumors of problems delaying the 'flat-crank' voodoo as I don't beleive the5.2 was planned to ship on the '15 schedule. Can't wait to see just what Ford will be able to do with that 5.2 DI ...rumors are mega NA HP.

There was a 2000 model, the R model, limited to a few hundred units. Also 2003 and 04 models were a 390 hp supercharged 4.6 4v.

Surprising the new Mustang is bigger...also surprising the two-piece DS continues. I thought we'd see a smaller Stang.

The front end looks like some kind of Audi A5 Taurus evolution and from the side it look like a Nissan 370Z, Ford have clearly tried to build in Import/Euro styling cues into this new Mustang.

The styling just ho-hum, but there is no doubt, this new platform will perform and Ford will sell a crap load of them, worldwide.

Wheelbase is the same. I think it's a bit shorter tho and a couple hundred pounds lighter.

Bring on Voodoo!!

I would like to see a AWD system in the Mustang. NOT 4WD I know it would do away the smokey burnout but man it sure would launch off the line.

They're already too expensive.

Ford's latest AWD system is awesome ...left-right diff torque biasing to augment handling (as on ST and others, and integrated into roll stability and other control systems) but also automatic and fully variable (up to 100%!) front-rear torque biasing! Several Fords have it (e.g. Escape) but doubt it was designed for big HP ....tho one certainly could be. I'd like to see one offered in Mustang too -- even if just for the V6 and I-4/EB -- but it would be new ground since I don't think present implementations are all for transverse powertrains.
