.....well maybe "destroy" is a bit of a stretch....and I suppose it might not have been SAs new shelby........but I did get to drive a new 2011 Shelby last night, unblemished except for the transport drivers........

beautiful car....dark blue with no stripes....a perfect combination.....

...transport driver left a batch of cars at the rear of the dealership and threw the keys etc on a desk without telling anyone there what was on the load....I was visiting a friend (works in the parts dept) getting a price on a couple of chin spoilers, and on the way out to save us all a table at Buffalo Wild Wings, I did a double take when I glanced over and saw the shelby, since I knew that if anyone at the dealer knew, it would have been mentioned to me by at least one of them.......well, after wings and beer, me and the parts guy went back to the dealership to take a better look and some more photos.....

.....well, being nice guys and knowing a large storm was on the way, we let a manager type know, and when he came out with the keys to move it inside he threw me the keys and said to take off........my shelby was there as collateral so he felt pretty safe.....

....only drove it around the lot (bigass dealer tho.....about a 1/4 mile trip for me total...up to 35-40 or so)......and ended up putting it in a mechanics bay for safekeeping......

ok....perceptions based on a limited drive.....

beautiful car.....this is the color combo I would get.....overall look reminds me a lot of the 03/04 cobras, with a bit more overall size....very much a sleeper without the stripes....plus without stripes the hood extractors blend in with the hood well.....

starts and drives well, good idle....to be expected from a new car...

interior is very nice, and extremely comfortable.....buyers will be most happy with it.....

suspension feels quite tight without being overly firm.....wish mine felt so good.....lower control arms look very much like my steeda billet....maybe a 2010 upgrade since I have not been paying much attention....

..shifter is upgraded....feels like a FRPP shifter.....nice defined clicks between shifts....again, maybe they did this in 2010....

price surprised me, 52.2 without the track package.....inflation I suppose....

ok....there is one negative....and its one that actually surprised me with how much I was bothered...the clutch.....

.....the clutch is soft to the point of having no feel at all.....I felt like I was driving one of my little foreign jobs from the past....not quite knowing how much gas to give it and when the clutch was gonna engage......of course....putting a louder exhaust on would help a bit on that....since I have had the TSB on mine, including a new tranny, I don't think mine is overly firm....but I really do like to feel what is going on with the drive train....don't like to be too isolated....maybe it will firm up over time though......but this is not a deal killer...just something that bugged me.

there it is......a nice and unexpected experience....luck and knowing the right folks.......was in a good enough mood that I let my friend take the shelby (without me...I had to drive his ranger) up to his house in a nearby town....heard my car for the first time opened up, from the rear...actually quite loud....but inside and to the sides it is quiet.......corsa exhaust....will be interesting to see what high flow cats do to this.....

.....I bet you will be quite pleased.........clutch feel is quite subjective...so how I perceive it may be very much different than others....please let us know what you think of it...

As for the price, I noticed that many things have been added as standard or put in a package on the newer ones. Illuminated sill plates, audio controls on the steering wheel, body colored side view mirrors, painted rear axle, etc. All these add up to a nicer car, at a higher price.

...I think it was a spur of the moment unsanctioned type thing....plus never left their property..........and we were doing them a favor to alert them to the need to move it.....if nothing else, to keep emblems, etc from being removed overnight........I don't think upper management was consulted regarding my "test" drive....

Pretty sure the redesigned LCAs are new for the 2011 MY. They are a bit sturdier than the previous version.

The 10+ clutch is so nice. Much lighter and easier to drive in traffic than the clutch on my 09.
