EcoBoost 3.5 Feedback

Morning all,

I am looking at replacing my 2012 Navigator L LE this year and have been reading up on the new body style 2015 model. It looks like the only engine choice is the 3.5 EcoBoost rated at 370HP & 430 TQ; the 2012 is seriously underpowered at 310 HP so the Eco numbers do look good.

I am looking for feedback from those of you running the Eco, how has it been and would you go down that path again? I was impressed doing a test drive with it in both a Taurus and a pick-up but looking for more what are they like to live with type perspective.

I've got a '13 SHO. In that setup, the Ecoboost is a beast. AWD, performance package (oil cooler, transmission cooler, stiffer suspension) it is a hoot to drive. Can't speak for efficiency (leadfootitis), but even with my driving style, I've averaged nearly 19mpg over the first year in the stable. Highway only roadtrips, it's pushed past 24mph (and no, not at speed limits). Essentially zero turbo lag (push it, it goes). We are leasing it (at 10k off sticker and a 0% rate used for lease calculations.......pays to be friends with the dealership GM................it was THE cheapest way to go), so no mods going to it until I decide if we will buy it out at the end of the 3 year lease. Our new office building in downtown Dallas is breaking ground this summer, so mid to late 2016, my 16 mile each way, no highway commute will transform into a 37 mile each way, highway only commute. So I'm thinking the SHO might be fun to keep as my commuter vs. taking the truck every day.

I have a 12 SHO and the wife uses it ad a DD. She get between 24/25 MPG I like the cat Have had no problems with the car mechanical wise. Car runs great. I hate Sync not sure about MFT with it though as I font have that. Ford is offering a 5.0 in the Explorer but not sure about the Navigator. TG had a truck with the Ecoboost and didn't like the fuel mileage. :crybaby:

I know George really likes his 3.5EB F150 ...great mileage on trips, nice power, and tows well. Unfortunately, George is no longer on the forum.

Ol' leadfoot (TG) on the other hand dumped his ...was using it to tow his track turd (only east of the MS) at 90 mph :yikes: :rofl3: ...he can offer more insight, I'm sure. :shades:

Just running my butt off for work but having fun, can't wait for cruising season. Ordered some CCW 505A's for the car along with Michelin SS rubber, went with 19's on all 4 corners and wide up front as well, will all be 19x10 rims and 19/285/35 front, 19/295/35 rear...looking for more handling over straight-line, thing won't hook ever on DR until the top of 3rd so might as well start having some fun throwing it around.
