Didn't OnStar have this feature already?

Kind of. If there's an airbag deployment, the system automatically calls OnStar & then OnStar calls 911.

Then this will take the middle man, pardon the pun, out of the equation. You should get help faster.

No monthly fee with Sync ...uses your bluetooth enabled cell. The phone just needs to be in the car and on. You get the option to decline the outgoing call too, even if you set it up to automatically call 911.

From what I've read the upgraded Sync should be on all '11s though dunno what date this specific app (enhanced 911 Assist) was added ...but should be down-loadable as long as the '11 has the upgraded Sync. There are lots of other aps (available and coming) that can be added. All of the upgraded Syncs include free turn-by-turn trip navigation (even without a Nav system). That's a nice feature too ...only consumes about a 30 second 'call' to set-up the trip ...pretty cool.
