Norseman super premium high speed drill bits, made in USA!!

Substantially longer cutting life - The nitro-carburized flute has an increased Rockwell hardness.

Cuts harder materials - The flatter point takes a smaller chip. More torque is directed to a smaller area. This allows drilling into materials with hardness of over 30 on the Rockwell “C” scale.

Stops drill walking - The split point design gives accurate starting without the use of a center punch.

Holds tighter hole size - The split point design is self centering. This limits the normal oversize drilling characteristics.

Outstanding quality appearance - The rich amber gold color sets it apart from commodity cutting tools.

Runs cooler, uses less torque - 135° point takes a smaller chip resulting in less heat. Friction is reduced by amber gold surface treatment.

Stops chuck slippage - Flats on drill shanks allow easy positive chuck grip.

Nice!!

I see they have it set on A3 ...C1 or B1 might be better for thick plate steel and larger bits. I leave mine on the equivalent of C1 all the time -- some is personal preference but a chart like this might be helpful:

https://ttp-hard-drills.com/cobalt-drill-bits-for-metal/drilling-hardened-metal/drill-speed-chart/

For argument sake, if the holes are to be 1/2", that's a circumference of a little over 1.5" or about 4cm ...so in that chart a malieable iron with a surface speed (I interpret that as bit-edge speed) recommendation of 1674 cm/min would be 1676/4 = approx. 420 rpm. But I have no idea what kind of iron hardness the hot rolled plate steel you have is or if I'm reading the chart right. Softer metals can be drilled at higher rpm for a given diameter bit. In my limited experience it's always best to err on the side of slower.

Here's a simpler chart with general recommendations that might also be useful:

http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/how-to/metalworking/drilling-techniques-and-speed-charts (http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/how-to/metalworking/drilling-techniques-and-speed-charts)

It shows that a .5" bit/hole which is about 13mm in steel would want to be at about 420 rpm or C1 on your drill press so I suspect I read the earlier chart correctly.

That Magnum is a nice drill press!

The Jet equivalent costs more and is 3/4HP (vs 1HP) and has shorter tri-handles ...it's nice to have long feed handles for control esp when doing precise work.

...and you can always paint the cap, base and table edge in SnapOn green  ;-)

There are also charts where you can calculate the feed rate but that's mostly for programming automated CNC machines. I've never attempted to use them. In general you want to use just enough handle pressure to keep it cutting and generating a nice continuous consistent 'curl.' Slower feed rate and it won't cut and will want to burnish the metal and overheat the bit. Too fast and it can dig in and break the bit (or stall). That's based on my very limited experience and my uncle Jerry teaching me a little before he passed away -- I bought his old (1948) Craftsman-branded King Seeley (https://i.pinimg.com/originals/a4/cf/bf/a4cfbffee31b39a2375e396ec5886bcd.jpg) press -- but it's a good rule of thumb: enough pressure to cut consistently but no more.

Thank you Dan!! I looked at Jets and Deltas, yes they were 2 grand and up!! This one was on sale for 600 bucks!! Two year warranty, and was in stock at the store!!

I was thinking last night that at some point it would be easy to tear down and paint green!! :rofl3:

I have to drill 3/8" holes, should I drill pilot holes, or can I just use a good punch for marking?

Never learned proper drilling, always just for it with what I had... :rofl3: Figured if I have to drill 2 hundred and some holes, I might as well learn to do it properly!!

I don't think you'll need a pilot hole or a punch. You can just touch the tip to the piece to see if you're on you're mark, adjust, repeat and, when you have it right lock the piece down, validate it with another touch-down, and then you're set ...You shouldn't get any 'walk' at all with the drill press. 3/8" you could up the speed a bit but since we don't know the temper of the steel I would go conservative anyway with C1 rpm with a good Cobalt or Titanium bit -- nice and safe and should work great.

Some cutting oil too, but you don't need a flow (like a CNC), just add a tiny puddle (several drops) ...it shouldn't burn off and at C1 rpm shouldn't throw throw it off either ...you can always add a few more drops if it's dissipating but it probably won't if the bit temp is fine. CNCs flood the work to keep it cool while cutting at the most profitable (fastest) chart rate. Their bits are also uber-expensive and require cooling flow.

It may sound like I know what I'm talking about -lol- but any experienced machinist knows 100x more so all I can share is from my limited experience. Like I said, you can always stop by or call a local machine shop and chat with them -- they are usually happy to offer good advice, esp since you may be a potential customer if you ever need any sophisticated machining in the future.

What are those two slots in the base for?

Not sure but I suspect it's for mounting large accessories or work pieces. Mine is a short-shaft drill press mounted on a 32" tall table my uncle built and I've never mounted a drill press vice or milling vice to those base slots (made for T-bolts). Speaking of which you may want to buy a simple drilling vice to mount to the drill press table (or a more elaborate milling vice if you anticipate doing metal milling) to make it easier to position and repeatedly drill the plates. A simple 4" drilling vice might cost $30 (if that would accommodate the plates with you want to drill). A super high quality multi-movement milling vice might cost more than the drill press. Either would mount using t-bolts in those table slots.

One thing you may want to do: I don't see any perimeter bolt holes on your baseplate but possibly those two big round holes are so it can be floor-anchored (a good idea). If you don't want to drill the floor and use some serious concrete tension lags, it might be adequate to build a 2' x 3' 2x4 flat-frame platform with 3/4 ply cap and a flat 2x4 cross-member under those two holes to bolt the drill press base to and give the drill press a much larger footing for stability. My base is a little different -- it has three perimeter holes on the approximate 20" x 12" base that is bolted to the 32" high table, but I think those two large holes in your base are for the same purpose.

I rarely work with metal but have a bunch of wood mortising accessories from my uncle, some I haven't played with yet.

I made a rookie mistake on measuring the inside holes from that above template I made... That one worked awesome because I used the railing post to measure... Then I applied those measurements to the rest of the plates...

Drilled out the next one and the holes didn't line up exactly, wtf?? Well it was then I realized that not all the plates were the exact same size, and some dummy took the measurements from the outside edges instead of the centre mark... My Dad got a laugh out of that one, he knew the mistake right of way!!

At least I found it after drilling one plate, glad I did a test fit before drilling them all!! :doh2: Now I just have to remeasure around 100 holes!! Oops, live and learn!!

At the very earliest engagement of the trigger -- the very lowest speed it will go is only so slow ...you want a drill that will be variable right down to zero. Just makes things easier. No DeWalt I've ever tried can do that tho maybe that's changed but it would require them changing their controller. Makita and Milwaukee does, possibly others do too. Possibly DeWalt does now? ...but none I've ever tried.
Ok...still not sure though...mine does that fine and I've had it for 15 years.

OCD, nice! One other option, although not required, is that if you're drilling large holes (lets' say 3/8" or larger), you could drill a small pilot hole first and then use the final size bit to drill to final size. This causes less cutting on the larger bit, thus less heat buildup. Yes it's extra work, so you decide whether it's needed. I agree with Dan that slower speed is usually better.

Holes for these "toilet bolt" hold downs must be slots...this allows angling the fence.

Table is 3/4" plywood sandwiched between 1/8" tempered (make sure you use tempered, not regular) hardboard
27315

The drawer under has tool storage that goes half depth...and the rest of the area behind it catches dust/chips
27316

Replaceable inserts with various sized holes
27317

For the stop block, make sure you cut a small chamfer where the block meets the fence/table or sawdust will get in there and mess up all your cuts by holding the piece away from the stop block

I doubt the slots in the base are not for bolting to the floor -- most likely they're for accessory fixtures, that's why they have a slot that a T-head can easily disengage (vs the table slots) because you can't get under the base. There are usually bolt holes around the base for bolting to the floor. On Stacey's I think the two large holes are for floor attachment.

Yeah, they were for a long time -- still seem to be good quality.

They're the featured tools in the electrical department at HD so probably decent but unlikely great.

I bought a Klein needle-nose pliers (D328-51/2C) online several years ago and it's very nice quality -- it's my go-to needle-nose though a 50+ year old Diamalloy needle-nose (also USA made with a brass pivot slug) seems even better quality than the Klein, though not as fine a nose so I gravitate to the Klein.

I've read the Klein business is still in the same Klein family (5th generation ownership since 1857) and that their tools are made in the USA so possibly there is still some genuine attention to product quality. They are priced higher than all the crap that's out there but I have no way to know how they compare more broadly to high-end brands -- if there really are any left that make their own.

I have been a lifetime Craftsman user so these days I am lost in deciding on which new tools to buy. I did try to go on the online selling sites to find so old Craftsman tools I need only to find that everyone is treating them like they are now collectors items with the prices they are asking.
My first tools were Craftsman, and I still have many of them. They are a good tool, but there are definitely better ones. When I became an auto mechanic, I could not afford Snap-On, so I bought Mac. Matco was another tool seller...but moreso on specialty tools.

One specific example of a tool issue I had: I used to do four-wheel alignments, and on front drive cars like the Dodge Omni, you had to remove 4 bolts that held the rear solid axle to the backing plate, then insert a tapered shim, and put all the bolts back in. These bolts were Torx T50. To make the job go fast, we used a 1/2" air gun (they were too tight for a 3/8" air gun), with a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter. I broke the Craftsman Torx bit the first time I used it. I had to go to Sears (luckily it was less than 2 miles from our shop) and get a new one. That one broke 3 cars later. I decided to buy 3 bits, and then when 2 were broken, I'd return them for free ones. That became a hassle, so I eventually bought a Mac T50 that was rated for impact gun use...that solved the problem. To be fair, I was using the Craftsman tool incorrectly, it was not intended for impact use. But I even tried it once on a ratchet and it still broke....the metal was just too brittle for as tight as the bolts were.

Bought one of these recently...a lot better than using a tape measurer to measure out a house/room for flooring or paint needs.

I have been a lifetime Craftsman user so these days I am lost in deciding on which new tools to buy. I did try to go on the online selling sites to find so old Craftsman tools I need only to find that everyone is treating them like they are now collectors items with the prices they are asking.

I agree. Repair parts are limited to inventory as I found when my ratchets failed. The replacement was a different size and wouldn't fit in the case. The replacements do carry the continued lifetime warranty they are not the same quality. The ebay selling price for it was as much as the new one. I finally found a repair kit on ebay and it was as much as the whole wrench but at least I knew it was "new".

Yeah, not surprised. Regular Torx bits and sockets etc are known to shatter when used with air guns -- have to use ones rated for impact.

Even using a non-impact-rated bit or socket ONCE with an impact tool can fracture it internally and then you discover that when you subsequently bust your knuckles using that bit/socket with hand tools.

I think the hand tool items are cast (or cast-forged) but I think only forged-steel is used for impact. At least it makes them easy to tell apart. ;-)

I've never managed to break a Craftsman socket or bit by hand but I would expect them to shatter with an impact driver so have never tried it.

Ok, so I finally bought a bit more expensive tool lol. My woodshop to this point has had two small tool boxes...a chest and a roll-a-round with 4 drawers. I have been outgrowing them. Today I was at Lowes and saw the below toolbox. They had a sticker on it that was yellow and said "was $949, now $798". First thing I did was open my phone and search online...and found most prices around $1,200. Turns out Sears is discontinuing this model...so they were marking it down. I headed to the register.

I showed the clerk the photo I took of the bar code/item and asked how many they had in stock. She checked and said zero...but they could order it. I asked if they charged for shipping to my house and she said "yes...if you are in town it's $60". This was fine with me, as I wanted them to take it to my basement for me...so I asked her if they would do this as part of the delivery...she said yes although I'd have to sign a Covid waiver allowing them into my house. Then she got on the phone to call the warehouse to see how many they had...and she hung up and said "turns out we are closing this item out, so that one on the floor is the only one we have". I asked her if I could get a discount since it's a floor model, and she said yes....she said she could give me 10%. I agreed to this. I then said "I'm a Lowes Pro Customer, does that get me any other benefit?" She said "Oh, well if that's the case your delivery charge will only be $20". I said great! I also get an additional 5% off due to having an LAR (Lowes Accounts Receivable) card. In the end, I got what used to be a $1,300 retail unit (adding in for taxes) for about $750!

I really like this unit. It's not the highest quality with roller bearing drawers and all, but it has a butcher block top that will provide a good work surface...although I may put my existing chest of drawers on top to cover part of it. The drawers already come with soft liners in it. It has power outlets on one side and even USB phone charger. Also the drawers are deep, so I can store big items like small power tools, levels, lasers, and all sorts of small jigs, hammers, saws, and so on.

I spent about an hour this afternoon clearing a space in the woodshop...delivery is tomorrow. Of course it will take me 1-2 weeks to get it all organized the way I want...and I'll post some photos later.

Been working on my new toolbox, getting it organized. Still a few things to arrange and transfer, but this is 80% of the way done. Keep in mind that I still have a full set of tools in the garage...so nearly everything in here that is "non-woodworking" is duplicated in the garage or I can go to the garage to get something I rarely use.

The smaller chest on top is one I've had for probably 40 years.
27666

I have a few empty spots, which is nice...I can fill them eventually. I have extra drill bits of some of the tiny sizes because I break them sometimes when pre-drilling for screws.
27667

I have way more screwdrivers in the garage if needed. Same with allen wrenches.
27668 27669

I don't have enough files...will wait until I need one and buy one then.
27670

I use drill bits a lot...and this drawer is a bit crowded so I might move this to a larger drawer in the lower toolbox
27671

I tried to put in here the tools I use most often...that large wood mallet is one I made in the class I took about a month ago lol. That entire thing was made out of one block of cherry, using 99% handtools. The only time we used a machine was to cut a blank for the head away from the blank for the handle. The remainder was done with hand saws, planes, spokeshaves, rasps, and so on.
27672

I have a new saw on order...that back saw is crap lol.
27673

I don't have a lot of planes...but I just learned how to use them in that recent class. Will probably get a couple more within a few years.
27674

I don't use sockets or wrenches often in the woodshop....and I have a few missing so I need to go buy some individual sockets. I may move the wrenches because that drawer is deep and I don't need the depth to store them.
27675 27677

This drawer is mostly PPE..masks/gloves/glasses, etc.
27676

My new chisels are nice...sharpened them all during the class.
27678

This is a really deep drawer...not sure what I'll put in here yet...maybe power tools like sander and jigsaw.
27679

Bought some of these for smaller items...only about $12 for I think 21 pieces total
27680

The toolbox has on the side a power strip and USB charging ports.
27681

I like to see what "oddball" items people have in their toolboxes...here is my bucket of oddball stuff. Awls, tweezers to get out splinters, hemostats to hold small parts, graduated syringes to measure tiny amounts of stains/colorants/etc., lipstick for marking the backside of wood when I'm trying to cut out a hole (for instance, an electrical outlet on drywall), a glass cutter, and then that thing in the far right pic is a tool to install eye hooks for my suspended ceiling in a cordless drill. I may never use that tool again lol.
276822768327684

Not sure if/how I'll use these...but I have a lot of oddball sockets (duplicates, odd sizes, etc.)...these are just large flat magnetic plates you can set in the toolbox and then set anything metal on them and they won't roll/fall. I have two of them. If I don't use them, I can return them.

Wow! Way nice, Dave!

I esp like those EZARC chisels. They look well-made and I'm sure they are now sharp after your class!

I have a similar set I bought about 45 years ago ...different brand but nearly identical otherwise. You will enjoy them, I'm sure!

I checked out that set on Amazon -- surprisingly reasonable. Had to chuckle at the ad pictures showing them being used cringe-worthy wrong in one pic -lol
Makes you wonder how some Amazon sellers actually sell anything -lol

Humm, I like the foam idea.
Problem with the foam idea is that if you get a new screwdriver, you need to cut out a new slot for it. Or if you decide after cutting the foam, you later want screwdriver #3 on the right instead of the left because you use it the most...you're screwed (pun intended).

Here is another option, but kinda pricey IMO.
https://www.amazon.com/Protoco-3017-Screwdriver-Screwdrivers-16-Inch/dp/B00D2KWB2K/ref=sr_1_36?crid=1YNLKFNGDQU0T&dchild=1&keywords=screwdriver+organizer+for+tool+box+drawer&qid=1605422478&s=automotive&sprefix=screwdriver+org%2Cautomotive%2C184&sr=1-36

Or this:

Or try this place but I'm afraid to ask how much their stuff costs
https://toolboxwidget.com/products/toolbox-screwdriver-organizers?gclid=Cj0KCQiAnb79BRDgARIsAOVbhRq7ckQXF _Z_zP_RhBg9av_IK-HUmLaqxBmYPVuY1VdiGht_oaBv1AMaAk_7EALw_wcB

Another thought...get rid of some of those screwdrivers and get some "6 in 1" units that cover 4 screwdriver sizes plus two hex drivers....just buy a good brand because the cheap ones rust and don't work well. I have several types but like the Kobalt the best...softer handle and I've had it for years and no rust. Here is a video that compares three brands.

The kind I have the two sided bits fit into the handle so you can use the bits (2 x 2 = 4) or the carrier (for hex nuts). I've had two different ones for decades (one in garage and one in basement shop).

I know what you mean. I do similar with instructions ...even cold/warm starting procedures and service parts for various 2-stroke power tools and such ...you name it. I keep all the owners manuals but it's so handy to have the info right where you need it without having to fish it out.
I even keep a list of all bulb replacements for the cars in the cars and in the garage a spare set of all exterior bulbs (brake, backup, blinker, dome, trunk, glove, license plate, F&R side markers...) and copy of owners manual page showing which is which.

I have few pair of deer hide work gloves which are also great but seems the pinky fingers on today’s leather gloves are all so long. The old ones fit every finger just right so they will go in chainsaw case.

Which reminds me — I still have six large trees that have gone down on our property’s various roads. Only have one contorted way right now to get down to the wetland pond as a result.

Sort off doesn’t matter since much of that road is flooded due to the rodent’s super dam they built this summer ...with a super lodge to match!! :doh2:

If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit.

Will you cut the trees up yourself? Do you use them for firewood?

Short answer: yes and yes, but...

Four of them are ash -- killed by the Asian emerald ash borer -- like chestnuts and elms, ashes will also be gone too :( ...they came down because the wood was no longer sound so not great for firewood.

The other two are oak which are great for firewood. The bigger one was live (wind-snapped) so I may let cure for a couple summers first because its so heavy (about 16-18" where it snapped) but where it snapped off about 20' up it's actually still tethered to the trunk and two of its large crown branches are semi-buried and carrying most of the weight (trunk probably weighs a ton or more) so just too dangerous to cut right now -- if the tether breaks free naturally I'll cut it up then; in the meantime it can just airdry.

The other oak I will salvage whatever I can. and store it in the garage after I buck up some awesome black oak I have stored (to make room) that is absolutely primo wood ...almost too nice to burn. It was standing-dead for a good 25 years when I cut it last year. If black oak stands dead long enough it starts to look like it was charred in a fire. Standing, it doesn't seem to ever rot or lose burn value and never gets 'cheesy' on the surface like some oaks do over time -- black oak just gets super hard and burns almost as hot as American Hornbeam, sometimes called ironwood (or muscle-wood b/c of its surface appearance).

If I were younger we'd heat more with wood (like we used to) but it's a lot of work and you need space to cure it. I mostly just cherry-pick the best standing-dead stuff -- mostly rock maple in the past and oak now. In 20 years I haven't cut a single live hardwood tree for firewood -- there's just something about unnecessarily killing such magnificent trees. I've probably pulled out well over 15,000 white pine seedlings while maintaining the 'roads' (white pine is a nice softwood but they grow like weeds!) and have cut quite a few live white pines putting in access 'roads' over the years, but live hardwoods -- they're just special.

Yes they are. I need a new one. Mine no longer stays still when I extend it it just circles around. They're so cheap I'll just get a new one instead of spending any time trying to fix it. I actually have two - one this size and a larger that has a cracked glass so I'll probably replace both. Sounds like an excuse to go to harbor freight.

I found this site that gives a summary for working with oxy-acetylene:

Oxy Acetylene Cutting Torch Pressure Settings & How to Use It (atlanticaspiration.com) (https://atlanticaspiration.com/oxy-torch-settings/#:~:text=But%20as%20a%20rule%2C%20more%20pressure% 20for%20both,psi%20for%20acetylene%2C%20regardless %20of%20cutting%20tip%20size.)

This paragraph (2/3 down that link) gives some tips on default working pressures:

Oxy-Acetylene Torch Working Pressure Settings

While there should be equal amounts of acetylene and oxygen to produce a neutral flame, you must observe the right pressure settings when working with an oxy-acetylene cutting torch. Note that the ratio of oxygen to acetylene is different from the pressure required. This means that oxygen and acetylene should not have equal psi readings.

In general, oxygen must have a higher pressure setting than acetylene. The actual setting will depend on the cutting tip being used and manufacturer recommendations. But as a rule, more pressure for both oxygen and acetylene is needed for bigger-sized cutting tips.

In case the recommended working pressure settings are not indicated, safe numbers are 40 psi for oxygen and 10 psi for acetylene, regardless of cutting tip size. Simply adjust them until you get a neutral flame, but pay close attention to the acetylene pressure to prevent it from exceeding the limit. Do make sure that you check to see if the manufacturer has indicated anything when it comes to the acetylene and the oxygen, and when that’s the case, those settings should always be followed.

Bought some new Bessey clamps...a new design. They move the handle away from the work so you can clamp right up against something. Shown below is an example with the older "F style" clamp and one of the new ones, and you can see that it would be difficult to get your hand around the handle on the left side clamp to tighten it...not so with the newer clamp. The little red button on the new ones is a quick release slider. These are great clamps, but not as strong as the F body but that's ok because most people overtighten clamps anyway. I bought two of one length and two of another. They make longer ones, but I rarely will need those I think.

27928 27927

Since I'm sure Dan will ask, the new ones have a plastic gear mechanism inside the lower part that does all the work. here is a video.

Real nice design overall!

I think there should be a metal socket (not just plastic) in the round pressure point (where the clamping force is exerted). That metal ball appears to just be acting on the plastic -- it is just going to distort the plastic pressure point over time, imo, and will act more as a point source vs acting across the whole 'pad.' Maybe there is a metal socket inside the round pressure point that I can't see?

Ah, yes, those are the F-style (good catch!) -- I didn't notice that -- but that is the type of swivel I was talking about -- far superior, imo, and maybe the GearKlamps will get them at some point if the all plastic pads prove problematic over time.

Was possibly a cost savings thing and might be just fine -- just seems like an obvious potential problem for clamps that boast a 450# clamping force, 100% of which is borne by a small ball in a plastic socket.

I notice Bessy is selling replacements (part #3101840) for the GearKlamps so maybe they are considered a 'wear item' -- razor and razor blades? They also sell replacements for the ones with the metal inserts ...different part number.

Finished off clearing that last tree today and used a lever cut from a 3” thigh branch to lift the trunk and get a few ‘stickers’ under it so it’s not lying on the ground until I get to bucking it up in a year or two. It’s a beautiful white oak and very heavy — about 20’ long and tapers from about 14” to 10” which in our Yotul #3 will be good for a few weeks of evening fires ;-) ...eventually -lol.

Problem with the foam idea is that if you get a new screwdriver, you need to cut out a new slot for it. Or if you decide after cutting the foam, you later want screwdriver #3 on the right instead of the left because you use it the most...you're screwed (pun intended).

Here is another option, but kinda pricey IMO.
https://www.amazon.com/Protoco-3017-Screwdriver-Screwdrivers-16-Inch/dp/B00D2KWB2K/ref=sr_1_36?crid=1YNLKFNGDQU0T&dchild=1&keywords=screwdriver+organizer+for+tool+box+drawer&qid=1605422478&s=automotive&sprefix=screwdriver+org%2Cautomotive%2C184&sr=1-36

Or this:
https://www.amazon.com/ARES-62009-Screwdriver-Organizer-Screwdrivers/dp/B084C15Q5H/ref=sr_1_38?crid=1YNLKFNGDQU0T&dchild=1&keywords=screwdriver+organizer+for+tool+box+drawer&qid=1605422478&s=automotive&sprefix=screwdriver+org%2Cautomotive%2C184&sr=1-38

Will only cut soft woods (pine), and only does quarter round accurately on a miter (won't cut shoe mold accurately). Only has presets for 90, 22.5, and 45 degrees. It was inexpensive and will save wear and tear on my knees. I spent a bit of time practicing recently.

Stacy, that's way nicer than mine, I like it! The integrated hose through the brush is nice, as is the skimmer. Mine has a tray that sits about 3" up in the tank and you set your parts on there, so you can remove it and then have the full amount of fluid available to you. Mine is also smaller than that. Mine is fine for the few times I use it, but you've got a really nice setup there.

Wow! We bought some very similar (not sure if exact same brand) about 3 years ago. Overall I'm happy with them, but one minor complaint is that the bottoms of ours are not flat enough for me...when I pour oil in to fry something, it all runs to the perimeter (not on one side, but ALL AROUND). Have to use more oil therefore than I would like. I love the lids with the steam hole, minimizes overboiling.

I just checked, the bottoms are nice and flat... Sounds like you need an air fryer!!

SnapOn burger press -- I love it :rofl3:

That relay test kit would have saved me a lot of time a few years ago ...I was getting codes that pointed to a failed warm up air pump inferred by inadequate current. The pump is there so the Fusion could qualify as a PZEV (EPA was giving incentives to the manufacturers to get to PZEV -- "partial zero emissions." Silly name.). The pump only runs for a very short time (like 5-20 seconds) on cold weather start-up to help the catalysts light-off sooner for less emissions.

But it's a whole friggin' system that costs about $430 just for the parts. Turned out it was just the high-current relay whose pins and contacts got dirty. The PZEV system has two relays, the pump, a sensor, a controller and some hoses. I also whacked the relay with a screwdriver quite a few times and could see little specks of carbon get loose inside. I was getting fairly high resistance across the high current contacts (should be very low or zero), so apparently the relay contacts (inside) had built up a little carbon from the high-current switching too.

So it's been three winters since and never saw another code :woohoo: I got lucky! Lol

I have 4 toolboxes....but I didn’t like having to dig through a bunch of tools at bottom to get something... so recently I bought the one with the pouches so I can keep some of the tools I use all the time handy in the pouches and get to them easily. One of my other toolboxes is for trimwork with a lot of my more delicate tools and chisels and things where I have to protect the sharp edges. And then one of the toolboxes is just kind of a spare or if I need specific tools for a small job I can just load them in there and take them.

Where’s your new tool box?

Wow! Some sweet mustangs! He must be like the boom boom bunny ...like OCD!

That little (actually big) '62/3 'bird is cool too since most came with 390s so a hyper big block is easy peasy. Too bad they're heavy.

There were two very special T-birds in '55. One is a one-off special build that Ford only built two of -- the Warbird. Much more available was the Paxton supercharged F-code that you order right from the factory with option delete. Removed everything that was non-essential and came with beanie hubcaps but in 1955 that Paxton supercharged 312 was pretty darn potent!

Have one like that but not SnapOn.
I like the SnapOn handle design better -- too easy on mine to change lock/ratchet setting while using the screwdriver.
