Don't rest your arms on the door panel armrests much, we've been seeing a few of the newer model Explorer door armrests failing already. The plastic molding behind the material is very thin and not holding up to normal use. :(
I foresee some money being made as they start hitting the used car lots in a couple years.
Should have taken a pic of the failed 2014 I fixed today.
We almost got an Explorer Sport before Christmas but just didn't like the ride, all the blind spots and simply had no need for the third row seats.
Should be an option for the 3rd row delete in leu of storage area. :)

It's a lease. It fails, it's replaced. Easy peasy. I love the ride of it........I was driving a SHO leading up to it.........it's just a bigger version of that and I don't think the blind spots are that bad, but the BLIS in the SHO handled that very well as I expect the Sport will too. I agree on the 3rd row........although with Kher being 5 and already big enough to not need a booster.....I see her loving the 3rd row. We did the 2nd row bucket seats vs the bench as well, so that 3rd row will probably get used.

Didn't think they covered cosmetic damage in a lease?
Our SHO didn't have the Blis system, would have made a great difference.

Bumper to Bumper. And I have Careguard coverage in the lease, so I can trash it to the tune of $4k and have no lease end exposure.
The BLIS is very helpful. But I really didn't find the blind spots to be that crazy. Kherington likes the inflatable rear seatbelts (they aren't "scratchy" and she wants to see them inflated.................I don't). Should have had my center console today, but the parts guy heard "B" when I ordered "D"..............so they got in today the Pecan trimmed one.............not the charcoal.
Now, where's Art and his SHO...................I want to beat him in an all Ecoboost race!!!

Great having that coverage :wtg:
I like seeing everything when driving. In the SHO w its big ass up in the air it was hard to see out the small back window (rear headrests hid most of it). We almost lowered/leveled the car to see if it would help.
We really loved our SHO and have regretted getting rid of it, but seeing it now w its cosmetic problems I'm glad we traded it.
We work at the dealer we traded it in at and see it every so often getting maintenance and see the issues that Art speaks of showing up on the car. :(
It kills us when we see it :(
Was a great car.

It seems to me we didn't have all these cosmetic issues a few years back. Peeling chrome plastic, interior glues failing, etc. Put out all that money and having to replace that kind of stuff after a few years. I suppose all the brands have similar issues.

As far as interiors...they all have their quirks. I'm thinking that's why they change up models now...so they don't have to deal w last years problems....and why cosmetic problems aren't covered more than 3 years typically.
On the bright side...I make a killing from people who buy extended warranties covering interior issues. :innocent:

My biggest gripe is the center dash speaker surround is the wood veneered (on my 2006 Mark LT) center dash and ashtray door. They have warped severely and the clear coat has cracked. I am thinking of sanding the clear coat and refinishing it and living with the warped part of it. That piece is over $600 from Lincoln...........ouch.

Yeah but you live on the surface of the sun. Anything's gonna warp in your summer heat.
