66 years ago today was the beginning of the end for the Third Reich. There was still much work to be done.

Nice Tony. I had the rare opportunity to visit the area on one of my many cruises there. The monuments and grave site were chilling, yet wonderful to see. I also had the great pleasure of meeting up and spending time with great veterans of the big wars at the American Legion Post 1 in Paris. Actually became a member. Those guys have wonderful stories. Every fourth of July they have a ceremony in Paris, consisting of a walk down their main street ending at the Arc. Beneath the center of the Arc, lies the first unknown American soldier from WWI. It was wonderful to part of such a extravagant event.

That picture makes me cry every time I see it.
My grandfathers were both on the other side, at that time. By 6/6/44, one was in a US POW camp, the other was in a Russian one...
Actually, my mom's dad suffered in Russian POW camps during both WWI and WWII.
