Ok, two big announcements from GM today -lol
#1 The 2016 Volt (whaaa??? they previously announced the Volt would be moved to the Caddy nameplate so it could go upscale -- and maybe even cover it's production costs) has been improved and will no longer get 50 miles on a fully charged battery (which translated to about 28 miles in typical commute conditions vs level constant speed) -- it will now (are you sitting down?) get a whopping 58 miles on a full charge. Hey, that's like 15 miles each way in actual commuting! -- well, splash my face with cold water ...and roll the presses!! :haha:GM also emphasized that it will get over 400 miles on a tank of gas too ...well, whoop-de-doo! :rofl3:
#2 According to GM News says, GM Authority says that GM stated "all Buicks" "except Enclave and LaCrosse may see future manufacturing moved to China or Europe." It's understandable in that GM is selling gobs of high-end Buicks to the nouveau-riche in China -- it's become their 'look-at-me-Lincoln' so to speak, but I have to wonder how folks will feel about buying whole cars made in China here in the US ...from a Communist regime that murders dissidents and has essentially no human rights. I know, I know, the '13/14 GT500 intercooler core is made by a specialy US maker in China (was the absolute best quality piece available anywhere as anyone who has opened up their '13/14 GT500 can attest) ...but whole cars from China wearing US labels might be met with some serious buyer resistance -- if GM goes that route. The folks are GM News made it clear they are not happy. And possibly this may be the whole purpose of such vague future-looking semi-announcement with no specifics nor even any certainty it will happen -- might test the waters of a acceptability?
Ok -- (Vito, throw that big lever!) wheeeeuuunk ...now back to your regularly schedulled programming...
